  • Dedicated to To my friends, and to my crush and his best friend.

Walking down the halls, Maria Gatz knew she couldn't avoid him. "Hey Eric! How was your summer? Mine was almost perfect." Maria couldn't stop herself from blushing. Eric Ree was the guy that made Maria smile and laugh. She knew his best friend had a crush on her, but he never made a move.

Eric smiled and jumped up to grab Maria's notebook from her. "My summer was awesome! Hey I gotta go, I see Matt. Don't you have have science with Mrs. Caleen?" Maria could only grin and nod. Her mind was a tornadoe of thoughts. She started to feel a little light-headed from smiling so much. "Great! I'll see you there! Oh, um... Here's your notebook, sorry 'bout that. MATT! WAIT FOR MEEEE!!!" Just like that, Eric was gone, and Maria was off looking for homeroom.

***At homeroom***

When Maria entered the classroom, she looked for an empty seat. Preferably in the back, it was quiet there, and Maria could be left to think about her own problems. Score! Empty seat in the back row on the end! There was a girl sitting in the seat next to it, but that doesn't matter for Maria.

Taking her seat, Maria got out her notebook that Eric had taken from her. It was her diary/writing notebook. Maria encoporated her real life problems into fictional stories and wrote them. It was her passion, and nobody could take that from her.

As Maria started to write, a voice brought her back to Earth "Excuse me? What's your name? My name is Arlene, and I moved here from New Jersey over the summer. Pennslyvania is pretty cool, like New Jersey." The girl Arene that was talking to Maria was the girl who Maria sat next to.

"Hi Arlene... I'm Maria. Welcome to the Keystone State." Maria mumbled to Arlene. "I never really got why Pennslyvania is the Keystone State. So many important events happened here in the United States history." Maria also liked history, aswell as writing.

"Me neither! It should be the Constitution State or something like that! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE history. Do you want to compare schedules?" Arlene was a very bubbly person, always chit-chating. "Hey! we both have science together! And history too! This is going to be an awesome school year Maria!"

Just then, the bells rang their shrill ring, and our homeroom teacher began to talk. His name was Mr. Sharlif, but other than that, Maria was just thinking. Thinking about Eric, Arlene, and her little sister Sharon. It was Sharon's first year at this school, but Sharon was tough, faster than any boy, and stronger than any boy. Sharon would rock at football.
