"Stephen, what are we doing?" You try and laugh through your nervous sweat. "You don't like me like this,"
"Who said that?" He asks in an almost offended tone.
"I thought we both knew that," you felt him move your arms around his neck.
"I've always liked you, Y/n," he presses his forehead against yours, looking lovingly into your eyes. "Ever since that night when I went to apologize, I was an idiot for what I said... for not saying what I really felt,"
"Seriously?" That made your entire face heat up, chest tightening. "You really feel that way?"
"Of course," he affirmed, pressing a kiss to your forehead as you closed your eyes to relish in the almost too-good-to-be-true bliss.

"Kiss me, Stephen," you mutter softly, and he felt your breath fan against his lips.
"Y/n, something is wrong," Strange opened his eyes and instantly he was met with a horrifying figure. The same heavenly glow now seemingly demonic to pair with the eyeball-less sockets and rotting flesh. He jumps back and grabs the nearest object which was a candle. Thrashing towards the apparition, the flame flares up in a blinding light, leaving the former gala room back into its rotting wooden origins.
More screams rung out through the house, Stephen holding the candle while fitting it in its candlestick.
"Move!" Thor shoved past Vision and Wanda while Bruce was curled in his arms and the billionaire clinging onto the god's back for dear life. Peculiar couple, Wanda with Vision in her arms, soon left without hesitation.
"Y/n!" Strange called out around the house before bumping with you in the hall.
Raising a broken frying pan you had gotten from the kitchen, you yell, "stay back!"
"Woah!" He raised his hands up in surrender. "It's me, Y/n,"
"What... What is my favorite thing in the evening?"
"What?" Strange knitted his brows.
"Tell me!" You threaten again.
"Sunsets!" He blurts out, jumping back. "You love to watch the sunset on the roof after I showed you!"
Lowering the pan slightly, you felt tears prick at your eyes. "How do I know it's you?"
"Because I'm not trying to kill you, idiot," he scoffs, tensing when you dropped the pan and hugged him tight.
"It's really you,"
"Yes, now let's get the hell out of here before whatever this thing is gets us," Cloaky wraps you close to Stephen as you all run out the wailing house. Rain was pounding down against the dead grass which came to life the closer it got to the gates. With the whistling wind in your ears, Stephen made sure the cloak kept you dry as he led you down the slippery steps. "Anything?"
He watched as you tried to conjure some form of magic, eventually sparks started to form once out the gates. "Got it!" The portal formed; needed considering Nat had likely stolen your car.

A warm blanket was wrapped around your floor-seated figure from behind-all wet clothes now replaced with Pajamas. Fire crackling quietly in the living room, you gave a small smile to Stephen who sat on the couch behind you, drying his wet hair with a towel. "Sorry, we didn't get any donuts," he leans his head onto his hand.
Your laugh slipped through your lips. "It's fine, I think that made me lose my appetite,"
"I'll have to agree there." Standing up, you shuffle onto the couch and sit right next to Strange, the blanket hooded over you. "Are you alright?" He asks once you were settled.
"What happened in there?"
His heart sank both at your question and at the unnerved tone. "Someone is really good at making haunted houses,"
"Stephen..."
He stopped his attempt to lighten the mood and wrapped his arm around you, pulling you closer. Your body was frozen just for a second until he rubbed his hand up and down your arm comfortingly. "Hey, it's fine, it was just some stupid thing,"
"But it stopped our powers... it messed with every bit of tech we had!" You rambled. "The mind stone fucked up, the working clocks were spinning mad as if time worked differently and-"
"Hey, hey," he took your nerved hand in his. "Y/n, I need you to take a breath, calm down and for once not overthink?"
"Wow, there goes my entire personality," you joke with your head leaning onto his chest. "Are you not even remotely concerned?"
"Nope,"
"Okay, who are you and what have you done to Doctor Stephen Strange?" Tauntingly narrowing your eyes, he pinches your side. "Hey!" You pinch his cheek which he pouts at. "Loser,"
"Idiot,"
"Douchebag,"
"Dumbass,"
"Butthead,"
"Butthead? Really? What are you? 5 Years old?"
"That's a top tier insult, I don't know what you're talking about," pushing his face away when he mockingly lip sync's your word. "Shut up... but seriously, why aren't you concerned?"
"Hm, maybe because Wong did a quick scope and turns out years ago some sort of witch trial was performed there, a real one, but whoever they tried to remove powers from must have escaped... I don't know, his exact words are a little fuzzy, a little boring," he explains smugly, letting you laugh and shift the blanket over you both. "Thank you,"
"Don't mention it." At the back of both minds, questions of what was seen and experienced were etching through cracks. He wanted to know if that was an outcome if he had gotten you to say yes, if he hadn't gotten in the crash... you wanted to know if he felt the way that creature said he did. Overall, you both wanted to know what it would be like to kiss each other.
If that was actually the true counter-part, what would it feel like?
But as soon as it came, the thought left, instead replaced by Strange's sneeze. "Don't tell me you're getting sick," lifting your hand to his forehead, the temperature was evident. "Congrats, Doc,"
"Thank you, but it was one sneeze, I'll be fine in the morning,"
"Just get to bed," giving his hand a small squeeze just as you stand to leave, you take his towel and ruffle his hair. "Now,"
"Yeah, alright," he removes the towel and watches you walk away to the kitchen, lips pulled upwards.
