"When you're done playing goo-goo eyes, get your ass in costume, magic man," you hiss at Strange who raised his hand for the cloak to fly to, the sling ring slipping on.

"I wasn't making goo-goo eyes," he argues back, summoning his own shields.

"Have to disagree there," you quip, moving in on the dust cloud with him. "Because guess who had to do your job?" Casting a wave of wind to clear the space, Strange snaps a glare to you.

"As if you didn't enjoy being the center of attention again,"

"You're right, I did enjoy it," scrunch your lips to one side mockingly, you send out steps to ascend around the crater. "We're clear here, nothing-" a large strike landed against your back, dust puffing up when you hit the ground.

"Y/n!" Wanda flies over as Strange grabs a hold of the culprit. Tony let his blasters detach the large robotic arm from the main form as Steve hit his shield against the main glass casing of its 'heart'.

"I'm fine," you get up off the ground, fists holding you before your feet could.

"Y/n, you're bleeding,"

"That's what happens when a robot Elastigirl bitch slaps you," creating a rope of magic to grasp at its throat, Peter webbed the joints while Sam flew in to throw Bucky against the contraption.

"Get me eyes on the main frame!"

"Back of the head,"

"Can't be that easy," Nat huffs while evacuating some of the public whilst others hid.

"Because it isn't," Tony flew behind it. "FRIDAY? Patterns?"

"Every two seconds there's an interval where it is exposed, but..." she hums, "if it isn't a clean shot the retaliation from the defense shield will create a large rebound shock wave,"

"That means keep the lightning away, brother," Loki snickers mockingly as Thor rolls his eyes, avoiding Vision's beam of the stone to break away falling ceiling which Wanda moves away just in time.

"Barton, can you get a clear hit?" Steve yells as Clint tries to focus, shaking his head in defeat.

"Not without risk, Cap,"

"Hey, Spidey!" You yell. "Ever play chicken fight?"

"I hate that they're the same," Bucky scowls.

"Need a little boost?" Peter swings in to fling you onto the robot's back. Your legs wrapped tight around what it could while you strike a precise hit into the core. While Friday's prediction was right... it lasted a few moments until the blaring red light started to flash.

"Fuck!" You jump back from the villain and rolled away, only a few moment given for you to get away. "RUN!" Screaming this at the team, they did as told.

Except Stephen who caught sight of Christine in still stuck behind a table. Looking from your position in the line of fire, he rushed to the doctor regardless, pulling a shield up just as the blast set off. He knew it was a risk but he thought you'd be able to save yourself.

How wrong he was.

Metal went flying, a shard slicing your shoulder while your body collided with a mass of concrete. Debris was starting to accumulate, collapsing from above as the ground mimicked its actions, giving way beneath you. You were slowly getting crushed while a pillar started to press against the ceiling pushing against your body.

Inhaling the dust in rapid grasps for air, your vision blurred as tears formed. "Help!" You call out, pounding a fist against the rock until your body fell through the ground into a dip. "Anna! Tony! Wanda! Thor! Nat!" you plead for anyone to hear you. "Stephen," you choke out through a sob.

~~~
"Where is Y/n?" Wanda looked back to the collapsing building once the team had evacuated everyone.
"Y/n!" Anna yells out among the crowd.
"She's still in there," Tony's heart dropped as he put his helmet back on. "All hands on deck, NOW!" Stark orders, cutting through the main door which had been blocked by pillars. "FRIDAY, scan for a heat signature,"
"Move," Loki pushed past, creating a large enough hold on the fallen building, allowing a smooth entrance through it all. "Go,"
"Y/n!" Wanda ran in with Stephen. "Y/n!"
"Y/n, can you hear us??" The doctor yells, casting light in the flickering dark while trying to remove the cluttered air.
~~~

Clasping a hand onto your gash, each breath felt like nothing more than the last, maybe even less. "Please... someone save me," you whimper out, curling closer to the ground as the wreckage heaved closer to crushing you.

Another try at casting a spell was failed as the purple magic started to do no more than fizzle from the tips of your fingers. Your worst fear was starting to surface and there was no one to save you. There was no one to hold you. Stephen wasn't here.

He promised to keep you safe but in the end aren't promises made to be broken?

"I got something!" Tony got Wanda to lift a pile off a spot to reveal your body. "FRIDAY, run a scan on vitals,"

"Oh my god," Wanda held a hand to her mouth as Strange and Thor rushed over. "Y/n..."

"Where-" Stephen stopped right by the dip and stepped back taking a breath.

"There is a heartbeat, but severe blood loss and damage to the lungs," the AI informed as Thor went to grab you only for the Cloak to do it for him, lifting your body into Stephen's arms. As medics rushed over he denied them going near you, instead calling for Christine and Bruce.

"Severe blood loss and lung damage according to Stark," he told her, opening a portal right into an operating theater.

"Oh god," she follows with Bruce as the team does as well.

"Oxygen," he says sternly while Bruce ushered everyone out and assisted Stephen. "Get me a cloth and keep pressure on it," he kept his eyes on you. "Y/n, can you hear me?" He placed a hand on your cheek and checked for any reply.

"Out cold,"

"We need to get the shards out before stitching her up," Christine looked to Strange.

"Keep her stable, you two get ready for surgery, get Romanoff in here," they both nod at the former surgeon and got who was needed.

"What do you need?" Nat looked at you then back to him.

"Keep pressure on the wound, I need to hook the monitor up to her,"

"Got it," she does as told as Stephen cuts through your suit, wiping away the oozing blood from your body best he could. "She'll be fine," Nat looks to Stephen who had tears pricking at the edges of his eyes.

"I thought she would and now look at her," he hisses sourly. "I promised to keep her safe and now she could be seconds from dying," he snarls lowly, turning on the monitors while Christine and Bruce return fully equipped.
