Skye's P.O.V.
I woke up the morning after Hermes' visit feeling ill and tired. I groaned when I caught sight of myself in the mirror on the wall, I was chalky white with large bags under my eyes and the whites of my eyes were practically pink they were so bloodshot. The bed was cold as Nico had already gone downstairs, it took some persuading to get Molly to let us share a bed I can tell you. Feeling like a zombie I rolled out of bed, pulled a thick jumper on and headed out the room. Despite the fact that it was summer I was shivering violently.
I stumbled downstairs and was about halfway down when my foot slipped. Screaming, I flung my arms out in the hope of grabbing something. My hands flailed in thin air as I flew down the stairs. I closed my eyes prepared to whack into the floor, and so I was surprised when I landed on something soft that went 'oof.'
'Skye?' Nico wheezed. I blearily opened my eyes and clambered off him, apologising. However I was cut off when a sudden stabbing pain in my chest caused me to burst out coughing.
'Gods Skye, are you alright?' Nico gasped. 'You look terrible!'
I gasped for breath, waving him away. 'Fine,' I finally managed to choke out, 'Just dandy. Can I have some food please?'
'Sure, of course, what do you want?' my husband asked. Oh yeah, he's my husband. I giggled happily to myself, which caused Nico to look at me with even more concern.
'Just some tofu please,' I smiled. Nico stared at me like I was a mad person so I pulled my best puppy dog eyes. He shook his head but headed off to the kitchen anyway, muttering about hormonal women. I trudged into the living room and flopped into the comfiest chair in the corner. I leapt up however when there was a small squeak. I span around and aplogised to Harry who I had managed to not see and consequently sit on.
'Woah Skye, you don't look too good,' Harry exclaimed as I fell into the armchair by the fire, obviously after making sure no more invisible people were sitting in it.
'Everyone seems to be saying that to me today,' I humphed just as Ginny and Hermione walked in, followed by a tousle-haired Ron.
'Gosh Skye you look-' Ginny began but I held up a hand and said in a low menacing voice, 'don't even think about it. I know what you were going to say.'
Ginny grinned and mimed zipping her lips shut but just then Percy strolled in and said 'You look like crap Skye.'
I groaned, threw my arms up in the air and sighed, 'What is it, pick on Skye day?!'
'Yes love,' replied Nico as he sat on the arm of the chair. 'Here you go, breakfast is served.' He handed me a bowl of tofu in sweet and sour sauce and I grinned, ignoring the strange looks from everyone else. I mean, if you have magic, why not use it to transfigure boring old toast into tofu?
'Umm guys,' Hermione started nervously. 'I think, um, I think we need to talk about what we are going to do about the gods.'
Nico scowled and said, 'I don't think we should do anything. If they're being idiots they can sort it out.'
I heard thunder and Nico glared out the window, yelling, 'yeah, yeah keep your hair on.'
'But from what you told us about last time the gods argued a world war almost started! We can't just leave it,' Hermione continued.
'I agree with Nico, the gods can deal with it.' I replied, stubbornly.
'But that's stupid!' Hermione exclaimed. 'They could cause immense damage!'
Suddenly I was feeling insanely angry. The fury seemed to start deep in my veins and bubble through my blood until it burst out at Hermione on full throttle.
'Look Hermione,' I spat. 'I already feel awful. The gods have started all this by themselves, I honestly think they've messed us about enough and I don't understand why you always have to be so obnoxious and nosy! You can't just leave things alone, can you?' Hermione looked like she was going to cry at this point but I didn't know where the anger was coming from or how to stop it - it didn't feel like me and I was never this horrid. I continued to scream at her, making the entire house fall silent. When eventually my voice was dry and rasping I stopped and glared around, challenging people to defy me. Everyone looked horrified at my outburst.
'Well,' Hermione said, clearly trying not to break out sobbing. 'If that's how you feel, I think I better leave.'
She stormed from the room and as soon as the door slammed shut, Ron, Ginny, Harry and Annabeth began yelling at me. Nico and Percy were stunned and couldn't seem to say anything. However I couldn't hear what anyone was yelling because at that moment an excruciating pain closed around my chest. I gasped, it felt like an iron hand was clenched around my ribs, slowly splintering them. Gulping for breath I pitched forward, my world turning black.
