It was narrated that Abu Umaamah al-Baahili said: “I heard the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) say, ‘Recite the Qur’aan, for it will come on the Day of Resurrection to intercede for its companions. Recite the two bright ones, al-Baqarah and Soorat Aal ‘Imraan, for they will come on the Day of Resurrection like two clouds or two shades or two flocks of birds in ranks, pleading for those who recite them. Recite Soorat al-Baqarah for to take recourse to it is a blessing and to give it up is a cause of grief, and the magicians cannot confront it.”
(Narrated by Muslim, 804).
Kamal woke up to the sound of adhan. It was time for subh prayer. He climbed down the bed and walked into the bathroom to perform ablution, then he headed for the masjid. He had almost stepped out of the door when he remembered he was supposed to wake Nihlah up for prayer, he didn't do that yesterday. He walked to her room and knocked on the door.
There was silence.
He knocked again and it was still the same. He turned the door knob and was surprised the door was not locked. He pushed the door open. He peeked and saw her praying. A smile automatically crept to his lips at the sight. He gently closed the door and left for the masjid.
He didn't come back to the house until it was sunrise. He took slow steps towards his room but the sound of a melodious voice reciting the Holy Qur'an grabbed his attention. It was coming from Nihlah's room. The door was closed but her recitation was audible. He paused to listen to the recitation. It was slow, melodious, pleasing to the ears. She was reciting like Shaykh Abubakar Shatry and she mastered his intonations. He fell in love with her recitation immediately.
He stood there until he heard her complete the Surah she was reciting. Then he quietly left for his room. He slumped on his bed immediately he entered and all that filled his head was Nihlah's voice.
“She recites well” He said to himself as a beautiful smile graced his lips. With last night's events coupled with the recitation he just listened to, he just realized that she was all he had been thinking of so he pushed away the thoughts and reached for his phone which was lying on the bed side drawer. He logged into whatsapp and found a message from his love.
Sumayyah: Good morning my love. Hope you slept well?
Checking the time, he saw that she just dropped the message.
He smiled.
From the day he met her to this day, he always woke up to her message everyday.
Kamal: Morning Sweetheart. How was your night?
He sent a reply.
He avoided responding to her question because he didn't sleep well and that was because Nihlah was all he saw in his sleep. Everything felt so real that he almost lost himself to her in his sleep. He thanked his stars when he woke up and realized it was a dream.
Sumayyah: Splendid! We had some ‘we’ moments.
Kamal: I wish we could have those ‘we’ moments in reality.
Sumayyah: We will dear, when the time comes. How is that woman? Hope she didn't try anything silly?
Kamal chuckled as he read her message. She sounded jealous and he wished he could see her facial expression at the moment.
Kamal: I'm afraid she did.
