"What the hell is that?" Kat asked nervously "Because it doesn't look like a plane!"

"They look like oversized chickens," Nikki pointed out.

Sure enough, three giant bird-things made their way towards the car. The scariest thing about them was that they had the faces of old hags.

"Wha- I think they are." Kat replied. "Mom, what's happening? Are we actually awake?"

"Girls, just stay calm. Put on your backpacks and I recommend unbuckling your seat belts, because you're going to have to get out quickly."

Nikki and Kat followed Mrs. Greene's orders.

"Katerina Greene and Nicole Stone, listen here. I want you to be very careful. Now when I tell you to get out of the car, run up that hill over there as fast as you can." Mrs. Greene pointed to a hill in the distance, leading to a field of red and green- strawberries. "You'll understand later. There's no time to explain now." Katerina's mom explained, very vaguely.

"Why? What's happening mom?" Kat asked.

"There's no time. Do you have anything? A baseball bat? Anything you could use to defend yourselves?" Kat's mom asked.

"Ummm.." Nikki rummaged through her large backpack. "Umbrellas."

"Good enough." Mrs. Greene mumbled. "Don't worry about me. I'll be fine. Just make it to the big pine tree as fast as you can."

Mrs. Greene kept her eyes on the road, taking sharp turns, slamming the confused girls into their seats.

"Uh, Kat! They're getting closer!" Nikki shouted.

Mrs. Greene pulled up to the hill that led to the strawberry field. "Girls. Now. Get out. Run. They'll explain."

"Mom-"

"Go!" Kats mom ordered, and they scurried out of the car. Mrs. Greene sped away down the road, and disappeared by the horizon. Nikki handed Kat an umbrella. "All we got."

Kat gripped the umbrella, keeping her eyes on the oversized chickens. There were three. They landed in front of the two puzzled girls. Kats heart was racing, and Nikki's mind seemed to have wandered somewhere else.

Kat ran to the nearest chicken-thing, stabbing at it with her umbrella. It roared in frustration. Nikki's dog had a tendency to chew at the parts of umbrellas, making them very jagged. Kat continued to do that with all the monsters, making them double over in pain from all the wounds.

Nikki then muttered a spell. "να φύγει!" With a flash of a blinding light, the injured monsters were gone.

The use of magic tired out Nikki, who hadn't even realized she performed a spell and saved them both. The result of the energy loss was Nikki passing out where the monsters disappeared, and Kat had to carry her to the top of the hill, just past the pine tree.

Kat was tired, and to top that, the chicken-things had scratched Kat, and bonked her on the head. She had a splitting headache. Kat looked at her surroundings. This was not an ordinary strawberry farm. Things started to get blurry. Then it all turned black.
