Kat's eyes opened slightly, and the light burned the slits of her eyes. She looked at her surroundings. She was in a chair, overlooking grassy fields, boys and girls scattered around the area. She was sitting on a wooden porch of a baby blue house. Kat tried to get up, but the faint throbbing in her head returned, more painful then ever. "Agh!" She jerked back down.

Nikki stirred not too long after.

She groaned like a little kid who didn't want to wake up on a school day. Nikki was curled up in a ball next to Kat, her knees tucked into her chest.

Kat tried to pry her eyes open, ignoring the throbbing pain in her head. The stairs of the porch lead down to what looked like a military camp; at least, to her it did. Groups of armor-clad teenagers and children walked from section to section, swinging around swords and other various weapons. What looked like a gargantuan rock wall with globs of hot lava spilling down the sides was being scaled by more of these kids.

To the far left was a field of strawberries, which was being tended to by kids with pan flutes and really shaggy brown pants.

Or, at least they looked like pants.

Nikki let out a small whimper and opened her eyes. The sunlight made her curl up tighter into herself, trying to shield her vision from the brightness. When her eyes adjusted, she tried to recollect what happened. It was foggy, but she remembered Harpies, those bird women that she'd read about in books about Greek mythology, running through the woods, a bright light, and a pounding pain in her left leg.

She tried to move. The pain was still there. Only then did she notice the white cotton bandages around her leg, restricting too much movement.

Nikki and Kat were then aware of each other's presence. They shared a confused and exhausted glance, then turning their attention to an approaching noise.

It sounded like cantering.

The next thing they knew, someone really tall smiled down at them. His eyes were kind and held a lot of history, and what looked like sadness. He had choppy brown hair that fell to his chin. His smile made his eyes crinkle in a happy expression. He looked to be as old as the tides.

The only thing that struck them as odd was that he was a centaur.

Where his torso ended, the body of a white stallion began. His black hooves scraped the ground, tail swishing back and forth.

"Well, it's not the weirdest thing I've seen," Nikki tilted her head to the side.

Kat nodded, mouth hanging open a bit. "Um, hello?"

The centaur chuckled. "Hello. I'm Chiron, the Camp's activity director."

A pang of realization flashed across Kat's face. "Wait... Chiron, as in the centaur that trained many Greek heroes Chiron?"

Chiron chuckled again with a nod.

Kat rubbed her forehead. "Agh, what happened?"

Chiron sighed. "As far as we know, you got attacked by harpies. We found her" Chiron pointed to Nikki. "Passed out, and you" he pointed to Kat. "On the verge of passing out. What are your names? "

"Katerina." Kat said.

"Nicole." Nikki said. Both girls seemed exhausted, and in excruciating pain. And Chiron noticed. He looked to the some passing by campers to feed Nikki and Kat ambrosia, since many Apollo kids were treating the wounded. Chiron called to the two closest campers.

"Leo, Nico, please come here."
