Tiny Light

In all the years he'd been alive, he'd seen many things. From tragedies to wondrous sights, Malleus Draconia had seen many things. He was a fae after all and had no limits when it came to time. However nothing could have prepared him for the most beautiful thing he'd ever lay eyes on. Nothing could have prepared him for something so small to make such an impact on his life in so many ways.

Nothing could have prepared him for you.

It'd started so small too. Just a simple exchange of conversation, a simple interaction that left him pleasantly surprised. A child of man who was so innocent and strange. He'd been intrigued by you and your personality and before he knew it, he found himself going back to the abandoned dorm to see you. You'd began to talk to him, to share yourself with him and he did the same. He learned about you and your hopes and dreams and desires. He grew to love your talks and nightly walks. He grew to adore your very being. Much like a moth drawn to a flame he was hooked on you, helpless to stop the feelings that grew without his knowledge till it was too late. Now Malleus was trapped in your spell, bewitched by you and the beautiful person you were. You'd become the light to his darkness, the friend that he never knew he needed, the most beautiful sight he'd ever seen in his long life.

You a child of man who was nothing more than a tiny light amongst a sea of other lights had become a beacon that called out to him. Malleus Draconia was completely and unconditionally in love with you and enraptured with your very soul in a way he never imagined. The ancient fae sighed to himself wondering if perhaps he was making the right decision with being with you. After all the two of you never spoke of the unsaid feelings nor did you give him any indication that you might feel the same for him. If you didn't feel the same way about him, he'd be heartbroken but would also respect your feelings as you were one of the most important things to him and he'd hate to lose you. Just like the light you were, you were dangerous as well. Your words could either warm him or burn him. You had no idea how much power you truly had over him and the thought terrified him a bit.

Malleus couldn't help but glare a little bit at the ground. He was at a standstill, unable to leave your side yet unable to take that risk of obtaining something more. It was infuriating to say the least. The fae would have spent more time in his thoughts had not a call of his name.

"Tsunotarou!"

Malleus looked up and felt his heart pick up speed. There you were heading towards him with that wonderful smile on your lovely face. He couldn't help but feel a bit better at seeing you, since you always brightened up his nights. You finally came to a stop in front of him, panting slightly as if you'd ran to get to him.

"Sorry I'm late, Grimm wouldn't stop bugging me until I gave him tuna."

You said breathless. Malleus let out a small chuckle and patted your head.

"Do not worry child of man, I was not waiting long."

He said with a small smile. You beamed up at him, practically glowing from the head pat.

"Awesome! Then let's get going, I've got so much to tell you about today!"

You chirped grabbing his hand and pulling him along for your nightly walk. Malleus allowed it, following close behind you as he listened to you ramble about your misadventures with Ace, Deuce and the rest of your friends. His hand felt warm as it gripped yours gently, his heart racing slightly. Such a small touch and you already had him at your mercy.

Did you know how much he adored you?

Did you know how hard his heart races when you hold his hand?

Did yours do the same thing?

So many questions yet no answers could be found from you, seeing as how you were good at hiding your true feelings at times. As you continued to talk about your day, you'd noticed that Malleus had started to stare at you, his bright green eyes looking at you as if you were something precious. You felt your cheeks burn slightly and your heart jumped, just like it always did when you were around him. You couldn't help but thank whatever deity was out there for your gift of hiding your emotions at times. If you didn't hide them you'd be given away and Malleus would know. He'd know how you truly felt about him. He'd know that you were in love with him and you didn't want him to know. After all it was Malleus, the man who was naive to things such as feelings and human technology. Malleus, the man who listened to you and treated you with so much care, Malleus who saw you as a friend. You couldn't help but shake your head a bit, ridding yourself of those thoughts. You gave Malleus's hand a squeeze, causing him to blink at you and his expression to become unreadable before filling with a determined look. You felt yourself start to sweat a bit at the look, your heart doing jumping jacks.

In the blink of an eye he was closer to you, his face mere inches from yours. You felt your breathing stop in your lungs. The two of you seemed to be frozen in time, unable to look away from one another. You placed your hand on his chest, feeling his heart thudding under it.

"(Y/N)......"

He said your name so softly, hesitantly. You swallowed lightly, on edge.

"If I were to tell you.....that you're the most important person to me.....that I want to be by your side......what would you say?"

Malleus asked. You felt your heart explode slightly at what he asked. So you had been reading him wrong this whole time, he actually....! Taking a deep breath you decided to respond to his hidden question.

"I'd say.....that I want to stay by your side as well. I'd say that you too are one of the most important things in my life and that.....that if you were to allow it......I'd want to be with you for as long as you'd have me."

You answered hoping that he'd gotten it. Because it was true, you wanted to be by his side, you wanted to see him smile and laugh. You wanted to be with him no matter what and you'd stay with him for as long as he wished. Malleus's eyes sparkled slightly and with a gentle touch, cupped your cheek, another question in his gaze.

'May I kiss you?'

You responded with your own gaze.

'Yes...please.'

That was all it took for Malleus to close the gap between the two of you. The kiss was soft, magical and spellbinding. You wouldn't have traded it for the world, and neither would Malleus.

What had started as a tiny light, had become a raging fire that burned within the hearts of one magicless human and one powerful fae prince. And it'd remain that way for years to come.
