12. Tumtums New Frenemy Chapter 8

   Rocky tried his best to plan everything out right. Next day early in the morning, he woke up and ran downstairs to catch up with his dad to talk to him.
  ,, Dad, Dad, Dad. '' Rocky got out of the house and stopped his father from getting into the car.
,, Hey Rocky. What are you doing up so early? '' Mr. Douglas asked in surprise. He never expected one of his son's to get out of bed this early in the morning, to go out and stop him.
,, I wanted to ask you something. And apparently, that means we need to talk about something. '' Rocky hoped his dad won't change the subject by hurrying up to go to job again (like he always does).
,, Uh, sure. Can you make it real quick? '' Mr. Douglas checked his watch and looked back at his son again.
  Rocky sighed. In some way, in any way, he had to tell him.
   Mrs. Douglas was inside the kitchen; she walked pass by the window then stopped. She looked out and saw Rocky talking to his father.
   Seconds later, Mr. Douglas smiled at Rocky and nodded. What were they talking about? That made Mrs. Douglas really wonder. Rocky never got out of the house this early and talked to his dad, with making his dad a smile on his face.
  Mr. Douglas got into the car quickly and drove away, as Rocky got back into the house.
,, What's going on? How come you're up so early? '' Mrs. Douglas asked as Rocky got back inside.
,, Just so to be clear, Colt, Tumtum and I have a lot of work to do. '' Rocky said as he turned and headed to the stairs.
  Mrs. Douglas scoffed ,, Work? What do you have for work? '' she followed Rocky as he was going up on the stairs.
,, That's the thing. Dad, just offered me a job. Thanks to me, I made it all up by myself. '' Rocky smiled and continued going up.
  Mrs. Douglas got confused. She didn't get it what Rocky meant, but clearly she had to find out anyway once the boys all got out of bed.
  Rocky, went back to bed, until an hour later, he and Colt and Tumtum got up and went to get dressed, and headed downstairs as soon as possible.
,, So you're father is letting you go all the way to San Francisco? '' Mrs. Douglas asked as the boy's were eating breakfast.
,, Yep. As an undercover job. '' Rocky smiled.
,, But Rocky. You're only 17 and you just got your driver's license. And I think it'll be better for you to take someone with you who's older than 20. '' Mrs. Douglas said.
,, Do you wanna come with us? '' Tumtum asked.
  Colt bumped his elbow onto Tumtums arm ,, Tumtum. '' he whispered.
,, Us? And no, I clearly don't have any time. It's Saturday, and I got a lot of work to do here. '' Mrs. Douglas claimed.
  The boy's were silent and continued eating their breakfast.
,, What about Grandpa? '' Colt asked.
,, Yeah. I mean he's way over his 20s. '' Rocky agreed.
,, Yeah does that count too? '' Tumtum wondered.
  Mrs. Douglas smiled and chuckled ,, Yes, it also counts. You may ask for his help. I'd rather let him be there with you instead of you boy's going alone. ''
  The boy's smiled at each other.
,, Besides. What exactly did your father wanted you to go undercover for? '' Mrs. Douglas asked.
  Rocky dropped his spoon into his bowl of fruit loops. Colt stopped drinking his coffee and looked at Rocky as Tumtum stopped chewing a piece of cookie in his mouth.
  Mrs. Douglas raised her eyebrows ,, What? Is everything okay? ''
  Rocky looked at Colt then back to his mother ,, Yes mom. Everything is fine. It's just, I think if we told you, you would be mad at us and not letting us go... ''
,, Why not me? I mean you definitely told your father. Didn't you? '' Mrs. Douglas asked.
,, Rocky. Just tell her. '' Colt almost whispered.
,, Why me? ''
,, Because all of this was your idea anyway. '' Colt replied.
,, Yeah but... ''
  Someone came running through their door and got into the kitchen ,, You guys I'm ready! I got a bag of items that I think we're gonna use to fight the criminals, and some extra food and snacks for my mother once we found her! '' Billy said as he looked all prepared. He suddenly stopped talking after he caught everyone in the kitchen just starring at him without saying a word.
,, Hi. Uh Billy. Is it? '' Mrs. Douglas asked.
  Billy nodded quickly.
,, Okay. Don't wanna be rude or anything, but just so you know, knocking on the door next time would be nice. Okay? '' Mrs. Douglas said.
,, Uh mom? It's okay. He's the reason we're going. '' Tumtum swallowed his throat.
,, What? ''
,, Yeah. You know his mother has been missing for 2 weeks now... And, that's what we're going for. '' Rocky almost whispered.
,, Yeah. But please don't freak out. Dad already knows. '' Colt added.
  Mrs. Douglas jaw drops ,, Really? ''
  The boy's nodded. And Billy still stood there at the same place where he stood as he got inside.
,, Wow. You go for it. '' Mrs. Douglas smiled.
,, Really? ''
,, What? Are you sure? ''
,, You're kidding right? ''
,, No. Of course not. Why would I? And besides. I think it's way better if you tell me and your father what you're about to do instead of going off without permission. ''
,, Yeah well. I figured since Colt and I are already 16 and 17 years old and we thought we'd start telling you both everything; and since we're not that afraid any more of doing something, and you both had every right to know everything about it anyway. '' Rocky said.
,, Yeah. '' Colt nodded as he agreed.
,, Awww. That's so touching guy's. Finally you get to understand and feel things. '' Mrs. Douglas smiled.
  The boy's smiled back.
  Mrs. Douglas turned and looked at    Billy. Billy gave Mrs. Douglas a small smile.
,, Uh, so you better hurry up then. Billy's probably not wanting to wait long to see his mother again. '' Mrs. Douglas said.
,, If she's still alive. '' Billy frowned.
,, Oh I'm sure she is. '' Mrs. Douglas smiled and Billy smiled back.
  The boy's finished their breakfast ,, Mom. I'm taking the Cheyenne. '' Rocky said as he stood up from the table.
,, Go ahead. '' Mrs. Douglas nodded ,, Oh. Have you asked your Grandfather yet? ''
,, Nope. But I'm gonna call him right away. '' Colt said as he got up from the table and took his phone to call grandpa and went into the living room.
,, Good. Do you all have your things ready? Like, the things you might need? '' Mrs. Douglas asked.
,, Don't worry mom '' Tumtum said as he stood up from the table ,, I think that's all on our body's already. ''
   Mrs. Douglas chuckled.
,, Grandpa said one of us could go with him; since dad wanted us to go under cover anyway, so that people won't expect to much. '' Colt said as he came into the kitchen from calling Grandpa in the living room.
,, Okay! Sounds great. Make sure you 2 have your phones switched on and the ring tone on, for necessary issues. '' Mrs. Douglas reminded Rocky and Colt.
  The boy's headed to the door to go outside ,, Bye mom. '' Tumtum went and gave his mother a hug.
,, Bye sweetie. '' Mrs. Douglas kisses Tumtum on his forehead.
   Colt came and hugged his mother as well ,, Bye mom. ''
,, Be good. '' Mrs. Douglas replied and smiled at Colt as they released their hug.
,, See'ya. '' Rocky came and kissed his mother on her cheek and hugged her tightly.
,, Stay safe. '' Mrs. Douglas rubbed her hands on Rocky's back and released their hug and smiled. Then she turned and looked at Billy and gave him a soft smile and walked up closer to him.
,, I really hope you'll find your mother, Billy. My boy's here are gonna help you with all they can. I promise. I used to not believe in them and trust in them, but now all the sudden, i do. It just takes time to see what they really want and what their heart tells them to do. You'll be okay. '' Mrs. Douglas smiled and pinched Billy's cheek softly with her thumb and finger.
  Billy's eyes got wet, that made him feel so loved by Mrs. Douglas ,, Thank you Mrs. Douglas. '' he went and grabbed Mrs. Douglas around and hugged her tightly.
  Mrs. Douglas smiled and patted the little boy on the head and rubbed his back.
,, Your welcome. '' Mrs. Douglas replied. They both released the hug then Rocky opened the door and went out with Colt, Tumtum and Billy following him.
  Mrs. Douglas followed them out to and stood near at the garage and watch her boys and one of their new friends getting into the vehicle as they wanted to leave.
  The boy's waved as Rocky backed the truck up and got it onto the street and Mrs. Douglas waves back.
  Rocky put in gear and started driving off from home, with Colt, Tumtum and Billy heading off to San Francisco, to find Billy's mother.
