Amelia looked at Thomas. He looked like he was getting ready for something. She then saw him running towards the closing walls of the maze.

"Thomas no!" Amelia shouted as she ran after him. Both of them ended up inside the maze just as the walls closed.

They both looked at Minho

"Great you just got yourself killed"

"What?" Thomas asked Minho as Amelia and him gained balance.

"Oh, you two screwed up really bad. What were you thinking when you ran in, huh? Goodness, we are already dead! You two are the shuckiest shuck faced shucks there ever were!"

"Minho stop rambling!" Amelia shouted at her friend

"We are dead. No one has ever survived a night in the maze. The grievers are gonna kill all three of us" Minho told them, this time, much calmly.

Just then, Thomas looked at Alby lying on the ground behind the runner.

"What happened to him?" When Thomas asked that, Amelia's eyes fell on the older boy too.

"He got stung. By the griever." Minho told them.

Thomas and Amelia shared a terrified glance and that's when the heard the horrible noise, the one they'd just heard today morning, the griever.

"Okay come on" Minho said holding Alby from his arms. He told Thomas to grab him by the legs and Amelia to support his torso. The three rounded a corner and the griever made that horrific sound again. But this time it seemed that it was coming from somewhere much closer.

"We have to leave him behind" Minho says referring to Alby

"What? No! We need to hide him" Amelia told Minho. Thomas had been thinking the same thing.

"Do you see any place we can hide him?!" Minho shouted

"We could tie him up with the ivy branches" Thomas suggested

Minho groaned but helped anyways. The three got to work. The tied all his limbs with the branches and started pulling them but then they heard the griever again, and it felt like this time, the creature was only a few miles away.

Minho glanced at the two of us and said, "We need to go!"

"Just a little bit more!" Amelia shouted

"Sorry Amelia and Thomas" and then he ran away leaving the two to deal with Alby themselves.

"Okay. Quick come on, let's finish this" Thomas said still pulling the branches. Amelia nodded and started doing the same. They soon tied the boy up but they couldn't do it in time. They heard the griever again and now; it was only a couple meters away. Thomas pulled Amelia by her arm and hid inside the branches.

When Thomas pulled both of them behind, Amelia ended up on top of him. They both stared at each other for a while. It was as if it was only them. They forgot they were in the maze or that there was a griever standing a few meters away. Amelia quickly cleared her throat and got off him. The both sat there awkwardly when suddenly, they heard clicks and whirs.

They could see the grievers legs from the tiny gaps between the branches. The creature was so much scarier up close. A few minutes later the clicks and whirs and metal scraping against the pavement had stopped. Thomas poked his head out to make sure it was safe. He first got out himself and then motioned for Amelia to do the same.

The two got out and Amelia was filled with relief but little did they know that the griever had made its way up the wall and was sitting right above them. Thomas felt something gooey drop on his shoulder. He looked up and saw the creature. He quickly held Amelia's hand and they both ran. They ran as fast as they could. Not stopping even for a second. The griever was now on the ground again and was following them.

The two took random turns, not knowing where it what take them. Suddenly, they bumped into someone. It was Minho. He first smirked at their intertwined hands and then asked them to follow him. Minho took turns here and there, but he was confident about where he was going. All of a sudden, the walls began moving.

"Dammit the maze is changing" Minho shouted over all the chaos. Thomas was still firmly holding Amelia's hand. The took a turn and they noticed that the walls on both sides were getting narrower. Amelia let go of Thomas' hand, a plan bubbling inside of her. Thomas hadn't notice she had let go before he got to the other side. The two boys turned around and saw that the girl was standing in the middle. Waiting for the griever to come.

"Amelia! What are you doing?!" The boys shouted. As soon as the griever was in the same lane as Amelia, she began running. She had never run this fast in her whole life.

"RUN!"

And before she knew it, she had made it to the other side, alive. But the griever wasn't so fortunate. It had been squashed by the closing walls. Thomas and Minho quickly engulfed her in a hug. She chuckled a bit and so did the other two.

"Come on let's go check up on Alby" Minho said and began running towards the place they'd hung the boy. They soon found him in the same place they'd left him a few hours ago. They untied the knots and carried him to the entrance the same way they did the other night.

The sun was up again and it was only a few minutes till the walls would open. When they did, the boys in the glade saw that no one was on the other side and turned away sadly except for Zart and Chuck. The three turned the corner of the maze and saw the opened walls of the maze.

"No way..." Zart muttered.

"Guys come over here!" Chuck shouted as he made his way over to three people approaching the glade. The three laid Alby on the ground and fell on the ground. Exhausted by last night's events. The others started asking questions

"Did you see a griever?" A boy asked

"Yeah" Amelia said

"They didn't only see it but she killed it too" Minho told the others. A proud smirk was plastered on his face.

Everyone looked at Amelia, shocked.
