It was now a few nights later and slowly we had got used to having Father’s suffocating presence back in the house. Father had been held prisoner by his own motives as he spent his hours on the table drawing out a battle plan and writing in journals.

Mother had taken advantage of his duties keeping him unawares as she left the house from dawn to twilight. Every night she would creep in with Willow closely behind. Both would come back looking worn but accomplished with the day’s progress. My mother seemed to have an aura of strength around her and a gleam of strength was in her gaze. One that I had not seen for so many years.

Smiling deep in thought at how slowly she was trying her best to make amends I made my way to Klaus room to check how he was feeling. After that night his fever had left his body swiftly and had left little traces that it was ever there. One good thing with Father being busier was that he had not checked in on us. In fact he had seemed to remain oblivious to the fact that Klaus had not been joining us at all. It was driving Klaus mad to be cooped up like he was on deaths door. Mother had spun some story that it was the after effects of some magic and that he would have to stay till it passed through his system. Mother every day would seem to stand back deep in thought as she would study him with deep probing eye. Almost as if searching for hidden very small changes that would show her one way or another if what she feared had indeed come to pass.

Yet for me Klaus seemed to remain his self but there it was hard to explain almost as if he had this energy flowing through him. That made him stronger  then us, to put him on a different playing field one that none of us could match not even Father, perhaps. Mother had set me on duty when she was not here to keep watch over him and make sure to not let him get up to trouble.

Finn had not left his room since that fight with Sage and he seemed to be wallowing in his own made misery and hate he felt at what he had become. Kol had been in a hurricane of a mood the minute he had found out I was to be confined to Klaus room. All it had taken was Klaus gleeful grin when Mother had broken him the news and Kol watching that smug expression to make it a power play fight again. Of course Klaus had no idea just how much it cut Kol to the core. For Klaus it was just a victory taking away Kol’s favourite sibling he spent time with. So Kol had no one to spend the hours with or have entertainment.

Every time I had mentioned Kol to Klaus to try and get them to talk it out Klaus had only huffed and snapped. Saying that Kol had clearly didn’t care who he put in harm’s way and that he had taken it too far this prank.

Klaus had said

“Sister he put you in danger….. Perhaps not in real life but in my mind it really seemed you might die.”
