Uh oh. Jungkook flinched. He took his earpieces out just in time to hear someone scream. Jimin. For whatever reason, Jimin had thrown himself in front of Jungkook and - in a most selfish way - Jungkook was secretly relieved he had done so.

The lights were dim. The cheering and screaming had faded to a confused mass of yells and screams. Jin was with Jimin in an instant. Jungkook was numb. He could hear Jimin still whining in pain, and he knew exactly what had happened.

"Jungkook, we need to get him off the stage! Help me here!" Jin said.

"Jungkook!"

Jungkook snapped out of his trance. He grabbed Jimin's legs, while Jin grabbed his waist. They lifted him up easily between them. Jimin shrieked and cried, but everybody tried to ignore it. It was heart wrenching for Jungkook to hear, but they had to keep moving. He knew that Jimin had been shot, he knew that Jimin was hurt, and he knew that he himself was the one who was supposed to get hurt. The death threats had been for him, not Jimin.

If Jin wasn't there, Jungkook would've continued falling into his thoughts. Jin kept saying things to keep him alert. Thank the heavens that Jin existed.

They took him backstage, away from the cheering, away from the fans, away from the shooter. Jungkook's mind kept feeding him sentimental passages from sentimental movies that he had watched. He couldn't focus. He felt guilty. Jin told him to lay Jimin down on the floor near the entrance. Jungkook couldn't look into Jimin's eyes. He didn't know where Jimin had been hurt. He didn't want to know either.

"Where is he hurt?" someone asked. "Seokjin?"

"Huh?" Jin shook his head. "His arm, his arm. It's his arm. He's going to be alright, I think-"

Jungkook couldn't listen. His breathing was speeding up. All he could think about was Jimin. Jimin. Jimin's eyes, and the way his face had looked when everything had happened.

All Jungkook could think was about Jimin. And how everything had been his own fault.

-------

(A few weeks earlier)

Jungkook shook his head.

"I don't understand. Why this much hate? What did I do wrong?"

The manager shrugged. "I don't know. All I know is that we're going to do everything we can to protect you from those..."

"I'm glad."

The manager smiled. "You should expect that from me."

Jungkook smiled back. Yes, he should expect that. Because if he didn't, he would expect to get hurt or killed. Surely, nobody would want that?

"Don't you worry about a thing, Jungkook. Everything will be absolutely fine."

Jungkook left the office that day believing those words.

------

Maybe Jungkook thought he was being slick, but Jimin caught on quite easily. He was up to date on everything that went on. He knew that Jungkook was getting an excessive amount of hate, and while that was sadly normal, he knew when to be careful. Jungkook must've told the agency about the death threats he was getting, but he didn't tell the others a single thing. Whether he was scared, embarrassed, or whatever, Jimin didn't know.

He didn't care if Jungkook didn't tell them. All Jimin cared about was Jungkook's safety. If anything happened to him, then Jimin wouldn't know what to do.
