Chapter 29

Alessio

I tried calming mom down but she refused to be consoled,

"Please get them back, He's a monster, he'll hurt them. Oh my poor grandchild, my baby Arielle, please get them back." She cried,

"Mum please calm down." I begged, I knew she was going to have a panic attack soon if she didn't calm down.

"No, no, you don't understand, he hurt her, he hurt my baby girl, there's nothing stopping him from hurting my grandchild." She cried, I knew what she was talking about but I refused to continue the discussion because it would make matters worse.

I hugged her tightly, she kept on crying but hugged me back,

"Its going to be fine, we'll get them all back." I mumbled even though I knew that might not be possible soon.

"Mum" Antonio called as he walked into my room, "take this." He stretched out two white pills and a glass of water.

Mom immediately shook her head and pushed them back, "I don't need any drugs now, they'll only make me dizzy. We all need to be in a sound state of mind if we're going to save  them."

"You're right mum but they're just pain killers, I need you to take them and relax a bit so you can have enough strength to tell us everything you remember." He replied,

Mom was about to refuse again but I cut her off, "Mom please, just take them, this isn't the time to act stubborn. You did say you hit your head hard so take the pills now before we can get a doctor to check you properly."

She reluctantly accepted the drugs and took them,  Antonio went back to barking orders around the house while I stayed with mom. A few minutes later she was fast asleep in my arms confirming my suspicion.

I tucked her in and let her sleep, I found Antonio in his office with Rosa who was still in her now torn and bloodied wedding gown.

"Those weren't pain killers right?" I asked,

"She needed to rest if she was going to be off any help." He replied then turned his attention back to Rosa, "continue,"

She sniffled, her eyes wet and puffy, "just as I said before, I wasn't there,I wasn't there  with them. I was in your room, Aurora told me to go freshen up for the reception so I did but I wasn't in the mood to go back to the party so I stayed there. Ashley...," she paused and sniffled again " she was there with me but I wasn't paying her any attention so she left and that was it. I guess I fell asleep at some point but I was quickly awoken by the sound of gunshots. I was scared, too scared to go out but then Dom barged in with your Mom, she was crying hysterically, she wanted to go get Aurora and Arielle but Dom strictly warned me not to let her leave the room and then he left."

She paused and wiped a tear, "he came back but without them, he said we had to go but your mom refused so he hit her on the head, knocking her out in the process. He didn't know what else to do because your mom was refusing to leave."

I understood his actions, he surely tried to save them all but he couldn't, no one could blame him. We messed up by falling into Montenegro's plan.

"He carried your mother and led us out of the mansion while the other men were up against the intruders, he left us in the cabin and gave me a gun in case anyone found us. He said he was going to come back to get us but he didn't." She concluded with a sob,

Just then a knock sounded on the door   and Marcello came in,

"This is the list you asked for boss, 53 deaths in total including the maids and workers." He stated,

I sucked in a breath, this was the highest we've ever had.

"Round up the men and go to the southern safe house, we'll all be vacating the mansion for now. Get a few men to scout the area first, make sure we aren't being watched or followed." Antonio ordered,

"Yes Boss."  Marcello replied and left,

"Go take a bath and change, pack up a few things you'll need, we'll be leaving  the mansion in an hour." He said specifically to Rosa,

She nodded and stood up, " I hope you know they took Ashley too, so please bring her back because she had nothing to do with any of this in the first place." She mumbled and walked away,

"This is messed up" he breathed as soon we were alone,

"What do we have?" I asked,

"Nothing, right now we have nothing to work with." He replied and sighed, "...and if we don't get something soon, who knows what might happen."

I sighed exhausted, we must have something, we just need to calm down and think properly.

"please pack a bag for mom, just the necessities, we'll be staying at the hills now." He stated,

I just nodded and stood up to leave but the door flew open and Andre stumbled in, leaving a trail of blood behind him.

He looked horrible with a huge gash across on his arm

"What the fuck happened?!" Antonio yelled

"They killed them, they killed them." He mumbled before passing out.

Oh God No......!
