There was no car in the parking lot, no note on the fridge. Nothing.
The house was cold and quiet. But Y/N hadn't noticed. She was used to being left alone while her parents worked. Y/N trudged to her room, and fell asleep.
The next day, her mother woke her up, apologizing for disappearing. At times, Y/N wished she could have just been placed into foster care. But she knew her parents, and they'd never do something like that.
"Darling, I have to take a trip for work. You'll be staying with Peg and her family. Make sure to lock the doors and keep out of danger. I'll drop you off if you'd like." Right. Trips. Another thing Y/N hated. Having her mom leave. As a kid she'd cry, now she just went along with everything.

"'Kay. I'll just pack up and walk. Safe travels." Her mom frowned, before she kissed her goodbye. "I love you."
"I love you more." Y/N responded. She started packing, and throwing a few necessities. She heard the door close, and the car backing out.
Grabbing her bag, she locked the back door, made sure the windows were also locked, and walked out, locking the door behind her.
"Hello Y/N" It was Edward. He smiled, happy to see her again. And this time, she'd be staying with him and the Boggs family.
"Eddy, what are you doing here?"

"Came to pick you up." He kept smiling. It made her smile. They walked and talked back to the house. She cracked jokes, him not understanding, but loving the sound of her laughter.
"Hey, now I'll be able to accompany you on your jobs." Y/N smiled. Edward hadn't thought about that. He was just very happy he was able to spend more time with Y/N. He smiled at the thought, before laughing at Y/N struggle with her hair. She hadn't put it up and the wind had picked up. At times she wished she had cut it, but she liked her long hair as she could do a lot with it. They reached the house, Peg welcoming Y/N with open arms.

"We'll settle you down somewhere tomorrow. For now, will the couch do?" Pegg questioned, feeling guilt.
"Yeah, I don't mind. Whatever seems easier." Y/N smiled.

Another day of boredom. Not only did she have to leave with Kim, she had to ride with her and her friends.
"Earth to Y/N. Come in Y/N." She turned to see one of her school friends, Danny. Danny wasn't his real name, but he hated it so much everyone just started calling him Danny. He was a vest wearing type of kid. Very sweet, making most girls and boys crush on him.
"Did you say something?" Danny smiled, dimples and braces showing.
"What's going on? You seem distracted." Y/N explained what had happened, Danny listening and understanding her frustration.
"Well... I'll treat you to a milkshake! We can even invite that cute guy. Edward was his name right?" Danny smiled, knowing fully well his friend had been crushing on him. Even if she herself didn't know.

"Thanks Danny. But I think he's working even after we get out of school."
"Then thanks the stars it's Friday." The day went on, Danny not having a care in the world. He's the type to not pay attention and still get good grades. The teacher had been talking about their futures and stuff that Y/N had no interest in. She planned on making something out of herself. She wanted the whole world to know her name... well maybe not the whole world. But still. However, she could help Edward with his business, and still be able to be in his life after graduation. But that's something she'd think about later. Right now, all she is focused on is the clock, and waiting for the bell to ring.

3...2...1-
"Wait- miss don't we have home-" The bell rang, students running out into the halls to find their friends and hangout. Danny and Y/N walked out, Y/N fumbling with her cassette tape player and duo adapter.
"OH MY GOD!" Danny yelled, grabbing Y/N's hand and rushing out of the hall way and outside.
"What? What happened?" Danny seemed traumatized.
"There was this couple kissing each other! And the girl was literally on top of him*!" Danny shouted. She laughed, as they walked back home.

Upon walking in the house, she saw Edward covered in what appeared concealer. Peg hadn't given up on trying to cover up his scars.
"Oh, hello guys. There's snacks if you want some. Help yourselves." Peg smiled. Y/N grabbed their bags heading downstairs. Danny, however, struck up a conversation with Edward. He barely responded, but in the end, he got him to agree to get a milkshake with them.
"Alright. I'm ready." And they headed out.
