Carter was shocked by her action. He just stood there like a statue. Nora pulls back from the kiss. "I love you," she said as the words came out like a whisperCarter shivered as if electricity pass through his body. A whimper escapes his mouth as it falls open. He kept stepping back and blankly staring at the floor. Nora was confused and worried seeing his behavior. Carter stopped when he felt the couch hit the back of his leg and sat on the armrest. He was breathing heavily as he looked down."Are you okay?" Nora asks with a worried tone as she walks to him He didn't respond."Talk to me," she said to bring her hand underneath Carter's chinShe got worried when she felt wetness on her hand and heard him sobbing. She cupped his face and lifts it. Her chest clenched when he saw Carter's face. His face was wet with unstoppable tears; his breathing was uneven and had hiccups in between. Carter was happy to hear what he never did. Drinking was a device to suppress the hallucination and the guilt. He was overwhelmed by the confession from the person he hurt. His tears were not stopping as he looks directly into Nora's eye. Nora hugged him to calm him down and kept stroking his head. Nora felt wetness on her stomach as Carter's buried his head. Tear escape Nora's eyes as she couldn't see Carter in this state. After few minutes of staying in that position, she felt Carter's sobbing stopped."You don't have to love me back, it's okay," she said as she felt sad and tear escape her eyesCarter immediately looks up and shook his head. He felt his heart clench when he saw tears in Nora's eyes."I will be a fool if I let you go away this time. You are the only person who cares about me and still love me even I hurted you so much" he said looking directly into her eyesThis time Carter doesn't want to lose Nora and want to be sincere about his feeling. He got up and hugged her. He presses Nora's head close to his chest. He wants to be the person who protects her not the person to hurt."I am sorry Nora, for hurting you. I was just scared that you will also hurt me like" his throat choked before he could say his ex's name"I know about her," she said lifting her head and looking at him"You know about her," he asked getting a nod from her"David told me long time ago," she said stroking his back Carter nods with a bitter smile. He cupped her face as her tears fall from the corner of her eyes. He wipes the tear from his thumb admiring her face. "It pains when I see you cry. I promise I will change and give you all the happiness you deserve" he paused "Please don't leave me okay" he said as tears fall againShe nodded as she pursued her lips while hugging againCarter was happy having Nora back in his arms. He smiled placing a kiss over her head and felt her smile against his chest. Both broke the hug."I missed you so much," he said as he cupped Nora's face and kiss her sweetlyBoth couldn't stop smiling into the kiss. They pull back and Carter couldn't stop admiring Nora smiling face."You go get ready. I will make breakfast" she said shyly"I missed your food too," he said pulled her by her waist and kissed her againHe didn't stop staring at Nora after pulling back from the kiss."Come on go," she said pushing him towards his bedroom "Okay I am going," he said laughing as he walks towards his bedroomNora turns and enters the kitchen. She just took two steps when she felt someone hugging her."I love you," Carter says as he kisses Nora's cheeks and ran away to his roomShe stood there blushing.
