Chapter 21

"MOM THEY already left."

Sinulyapan ni Sunset si Death na kapapasok lang ng silid nito. Tumayo siya mula sa pagkakaupo sa ergonomic chair nito na nasa harap ng mesa na puno ng monitor saka sumilip sa bintana para tignan kung nakaalis na ba ang magulang at ilang kapatid ni Ruckus na bumisita.

She saw a few cars leaving before she turn around to see Death who was now sitting on his chair in front of the monitors.

"They asked about you, mom," Death spoke again staring at her.

Lumapit siya dito at sumandal sa gilid ng mesa.

"What about?" She asked frowning.

"Where are you and how are you."

"And?"

Death shrugged. "I told them you left to buy something and that you're doing just great."

Napangiti si Sunset.

Death narrowed his eyes on her. "Why didn't you show up yourself?"

Sunset pursed her lips and twitched her shoulder. "The Crown's brother will not be happy to see me. Especially your dad's twin brother."

"Why?" Death frowned, "Kronack is not bad. If you'd ask me, Kronack is much more approachable and good in the first meeting. Dad is only good when it's a child he's talking to but not always. But Dad is a jerk to many adults. Cold and rugged to many people he's not close with."

Tipid niya na nginitian si Death. "Kronack has reasons to hate me and I can't tell you now what is it. Anyway, go to bed already."

"But—"

"Death, rest your eyes and brain," tinaasan niya ito ng isang kilay habang istrikto itong tinitignan.

Walang ginawa ang batang ito kundi ang aralin ang mga bagay na hindi naman nito dapat pa aralin.

"Fine," he grumbled defeated.

"Good," she ruffled the child's hair before turning to leave. "Knock on your dad's room if you need something. We'll be sleeping together."

Narinig niya ang ungol nito na may bahid na reklamo. "Mom, you don't need to tell me that, tsk."

Nangingiti siyang lumabas ng silid ni Death. Death dislikes being informed about things that must be private like how she and Ruck shares a room for two days now since Ruckus get sick.

Good thing, Death was not mad after what she did but she felt bad that she made him worried sick. Buti na lang at naiintindihan nito ang nangyari matapos niyang magpaliwanag. Masaya rin itong nakita niya na ang kapatid niya pero malungkot din ito dahil sa kaalamang hindi siya naalala ni Sunrise. He also inquired about her bruises which she answered with honesty.

Sunset inwardly smiles.

It hurts that her own family is not thinking about her nor do they care because they don't remember her but with Death and Ruckus showing that she's important to them it's somehow making her forget the pain. Filling the emptiness in her heart.

She's so glad to have the two. Hopefully, she'll have them for very long.

Tatlong katok ang ginawa ni Sunset nang tumapat sa pintuan ng silid ni Ruckus bago iyon binuksan.

"Ma chérie," Ruckus greeted, frowning and looking grumpy while sitting on the edge of his bed.

"What's with the face, mon chéri?" Lumapit siya dito matapos isara ang pintuan. Inilapat niya ang kamay sa noo nito para tignan kung tumaas na naman ba ang lagnat nito o hindi. Dalawang araw na rin itong may lagnat pero mukhang bumubuti na ang lagay nito dahil na rin sa nawawala na ang pamumungay ng mata nito at bumabalik na iyon sa pagiging matalim.
