PII: Chapter One

Third POV

             A week has past since the death of Hayley Marshall, and even though the way she hurt her, Rose was feeling the affects of her death. 

Flashback 

Rose opens her eyes and sees three faces stare back at her. "Hello?" she rubs her eyes looking around the room. 

"Rose, your back home." Klaus tells the girl, staring down at her. 

"Where's Hayley?" The teen girl sits up. 

"She's dead." 

End

"I don't understand why you're so upset, she wanted to kill you." Klaus walks into the nursery where Rose watched her daughters sleep in their cribs. 

"She was still my sister." She snapped out quietly not wanting to wake up the girls. 

"They seem to be warming up to you," He changes the subject not wanting a fight. 

"Yeah, I was away for so long." 

"It wasn't your fault, you where trying to help your friends." He places a hand on the small of her back. "why they are your friends, I don't know." he mutters at the end, making her roll her eyes at the father of her children. 

"When they wake up, I'm going to take them for a walk around quarter." 

"No." 

"And why not?" Rose crosses her arms.

"You're human and can't protect them. I have plans and you're not talking to Elijah." He tries to reason.

"I'm going with Marcel and Davina." 

"Ah, your vampire lover." Klaus smirks looking at the teen.

"Problem?" 

"No, I'm happy you have someone." he starts. "Rose, you and I are soulmates." The girl gives him a pointed look. "Platonic soulmates." 

"Better." Rose walked away and left the nursery. 

                 Downstairs Elijah Mikaelson was sitting on the floor, a bottle of alcohol in his hand, a few stray tears going down his face. 

"Wallowing in the sorrow of losing your psycho lover?" Rose questions the older brother as she walks down the stairs to the courtyard of the compound. 

"No." He says in a voice that barely resembles a whisper. 

"Why so sad?" 

"I lost someone I care about." 

"But I thought you said you weren't sad about Hayley?" Rose looks at the Vampire. 

"I'm not." Elijah answers the teen girl standing in front of him.

"Then who?" 

"You." He looks up at the girl. "Seeing you die killed me, all I wanted to do was find that witch and tear his heart out." Rose sits down next to the vampire.

"How come?" 

"I remember the first time I saw you in the cemetery, when you and your sister got taken by the Devereux witches. I swore I would protect you and I failed." 

"That seems like forever ago." Rose laughs slightly. 

"Two years." 

"I never had a father figure, Elijah but you where always the closest thing I ever had. Which is why it hurt me so much to find out you helped Hayley to try and take the girls." 

"You where dead, Klaus was off the deep end, will you ever forgive me?" Elijah finally asks Rose. 

"Yes, but it will take a while."
