Hawks...

****. I duck behind the counter. What if he recognizes me? I mean sure he's not the only hero I face off every now and then, but we get around. Even my glasses picked up on him.

Threat: Hawks
Status: Hero
Height: 5'4"
Threat Level: 7
Approaching a table now

"Cora?" Midge looks down at me in confusion.

"Ah! Sorry, thought I dropped something." I lie, taking my time to get back up onto my feet.

She nods, not questioning me further. "Did you see? Hawks totally just came in our bar."

"Hm?" I know I shouldn't play dumb, but what other choice did I have? Tell her "Ah yeah that guy? We fight all the time. He's given me some gnarly injuries" Yeah for some reason I don't think that would fly.

"You know the super hot hero? Hawks?" Her eyes were practically hearts. It's not rare for Midge to find a guy hot, i'm just surprised she's such a fan of the winged moron.

"Ah, him." I quickly take someone's drink order and get to making their drink, making sure to keep my back to Hawks.

"Isn't he like totally the hottest? Have you seen the leaked pictures of him shirtless? Hot damn." I nod along, giving a "mhm." where it feels appropriate. "Here let me show you."

I serve the woman her drink and turn away, just to have Midge's phone shoved in my face. Her screen is lit up with a picture of Hawks....shirt off, pants low, right out of a model magazine or something. His muscular arms and abs on full display. I feel my face heat up, this, this is NOT how i'm used to seeing him. "U-uh yeah cool, thanks for...uh that!" She chuckles and tucks her phone back in her pocket.

"So got a man yet?" She changes the subject and wiggles her eyebrows at me. If there's one thing Midge is way too invested in, it's my non-existent love life. When I don't reply she nudges me.

"Uh..no." I shake my head and grab my notebook, ready to do my rounds of the bar. She lets out an over-dramatic sigh.

"Why must I do everything for you?" Although her words were joking, meant only for a chuckle, they stung worse than they should have. For a moment, just a moment, she sounded like my sister. The rage built up in my chest and I had to take deep breaths to calm myself down to stop the flashbacks of asking my sister for homework help...and baking help...and any other help you can think of from coming up now.

I quickly take my leave, doing a run of the tables taking orders. I scribble down all of the orders on my pad along with a rough description of everyone who ordered, such as 'table with the smelly hairy man', just so I don't mix up the tables. It takes me a bit to decide whether or not it's worth the risk to go up to Hawks' table. He sits with a few other guys, all of them are laughing, barely paying attention. My heart races a little. The adrenaline pumping. What if he recognizes me?

I don't give myself enough time to think it over fully. "Anything I can get for you boys tonight?" My voice is oddly high. I sound like an awkward school girl with a crush, but at least I don't sound like me, Lady Death.

The men give me their orders, Hawks doesn't even bother to glance my way. Perfect.

I finish my rounds and share my notepad with Midge, so we can both work on all the drinks that now need to be made. We make quick work of the drinks and pile them onto trays according to which table they go too.

"We should hang out tomorrow...Go shopping or something fun!"

Technically I have plans for tomorrow. My goal was to blow up the central power circuit, so it will be easier for my hacker buddy, Reogio, to break in and set up his own lines mixed in with the towns, so he will over all control the power and be able to turn it off with the push of a button....Considering I owe him one, It's not something I can exactly back out of, besides if we're successful it should prove more than helpful in the end. I have my goals and I don't plan to back down anytime soon.

"Sorry, can't. I'm busy tomorrow." I pick up a tray and quickly walk it to the appropriate table (the table I labeled 'lazy drunks') so that she doesn't have time to pry and ask me what i'll be doing tomorrow. That's the thing with Midge...She's always a little too curious and there are some things I just can't tell her.

Midge uses her levitating quirk to her advantage and focuses in on the trays, making them float to the appropriate tables instead of actually approaching them, that is for all except for Hawks' table. She picks up the tray holding Hawks drink along with his friend's beverages and gives me a half smirk and wink, before walking off, hips swaying, to their table.

I can't help but roll my eyes. Only Midge would be so bold. Adjusting my glasses, I turn around and take a couple orders at the bar. After a couple people leave I take to wiping down the counters and picking up the tips. Around here if you want your tips you gotta grab 'em fast or some no good thief will snatch them before you get the chance. I shove the tip money in my bra and continue washing down the counters.
