Explosives

"Well, that about does it for the night." Midge yawns, locking the door.

I finish wiping down the tables. "Thank goodness. I need a nap." She laughs, her laugh seems to echo off the walls in the empty bar. Even Brock went home hours ago leaving me and Midge to do all the hard work.

"You always need a nap." I watch Midge walk behind the bar and grab our big broom. She's smiling, but her eyes are tired. It must have been a long day for her.

"Don't worry about it Midge," Gently, I take the broom from her hands. "I got it tonight. Go home and get some sleep."

She nods, letting go of the broom. "Thanks Cora, you're the best!" She gives me a tight hug, before letting me go. With that, she runs around the bar collecting her things.

"Mhm." I toss the wet rag in the sink and begin to sweep down the bar. Lucky for me, it's not mopping day, so I won't get stuck mopping too. The bar isn't huge by any means, so it's not a ton to sweep, but the disgusting giant gold statues at every corner sure are a pain to sweep around. Come to think of it, that seems to be the bar's theme, gold and not in a good way either, more in an over the top definite cheap casino looking way.

I'm half way through sweeping when I hear Midge's "goodbye" scream from the backroom, followed by the backdoor slamming closed behind her. Stealth is definitely not her thing.

Making quick work of it all, I finish the cleaning and head out as well. The backlight flickers, but eventually spuds and fizzles out leaving me with the light from the moon to guide me down the dark road. The worst thing about working at the crappiest bar around is the fact that it's also open the latest, to drag in all the other bars drunk customers, so I'm not getting off work till three a.m. and I don't get home till three thirty.

A quarter of the way home, I give up on my heels and tug them off my feet. My heels are slightly blistered and a slight stinging occurs. "Uhg." I groan.

With my shoes held tightly in my left hand and my phone in the other, I make my way the rest of the way home. The cold air nipping my skin the whole way. I should have brought a jacket.

I make it home in one piece and swing the door wide open, wasting no time throwing my shoes back into the pile of clothes on my floor. My two cats, Biscuit and Elmo, come to greet me with long stretches and soft meows. "Hey guys." I whisper to them, peeling the tight dress off my body. A couple bills flutter to the floor. I ignore them for the time being and go to the small kitchen to feed my cats and myself.

Yawning slightly, I give my cats their food and grab myself some microwave Ramen to eat. On days like today, there's nothing better than a little Ramen.

While my Ramen cooks, I collect the rest of my tips out of my bra and lay the bills out on the little counter space I do have. I count it out and come to a total of $63. Hopefully my tips this week plus my paycheck will be enough for rent and bills or I might be going without heating again.

Quickly, I throw on a baggy t shirt and shorts. After a long night of work comfy clothes are always the best. The microwave beeps and I fetch my Ramen, before sinking down on the couch bed for the night.

Buzzt. Buzzt. Buzzt. Buzzt.

"Ugggg" Flopping around my bed, I try to locate my phone. My hand slaps down on it and I quickly grasp onto it lifting it up. Opening my eyes just a little I stare at the screen.

Incoming call unknown number…

Beep. "Hello?" I grumble into the receiver.

"Hi there," an automated voice starts talking. "We've been trying to reach you regarding your cars extended warran--"

"OH FOR ****S SAKE!" I aggressively hang up the phone. Roughly, I toss my phone across the room. It hits the wall with a loud thud.

Groaning, I roll over and close my eyes again. Drifting back into the world of sleep and dreams.

Sadly, I wasn't able to sleep for very long. It only took a couple hours for my clingy cat, Elmo, to get bored and jump on me. Stirring from my sleep, I let out another loud groan. "Well good morning to you too Elmo."

Elmo meows in response, rubbing his sweet little black and white head against jaw and chin. I can't help but smile and pet him, chooing over how cute he is.

Taking a quick look around the room, I locate biscuit sleeping peacefully on my pile of dirty and half dirty clothes. "Why can't you be more like biscuit, Elmo?" I pet him, talking to him with my baby voice.

He doesn't reply and I chuckle. Sitting up, I give him all of my attention in the form of pets and turn on the TV. Looks like the news is on.

"And of course today we have an exclusive interview, with one of the world's greatest heros, Yin-yang!"

Yin-yang walks onto their TV set, making the whole set look like mere dollhouse in comparison to his tall bulky frame. The crowd goes wild. Of course they do. He smiles and waves to fans, before taking a seat on their couch.

Click.

I change the channel, choosing to instead watch some basic chick flick that's on.

After a couple hours of chilling on the couch, I finally get the call I've actually been waiting for.

Incoming call unknown number…

 Beep.

"Talk to me."

"Hey." Reogio's surprisingly soft voice rings out through the phone. "It's ready for you." He doesn't wait for me to answer, he knows I know what he means. No doubt he's burning the burner phone he used to call me right now. Sure, Reogio is a strange guy, but he knows what he's doing...he's never gotten caught before.

I sigh and get up. "It's go time."

Grabbing my get up, I take my time changing. My outfit is more complicated than most, because I use it to hide my identity, so it's important that when I transform into Lady Death, I'm unrecognizable.

My suit is mostly black and made for movement. The material is smooth most places, but some spots like my knees are a rough almost velcro material to help me stick to and climb walls.

I got the nickname Lady Death, because like the black widow whose powers I hone, I am deadly.

Once changed, I sneak around the town making my way to Reogio's current hideout. I don't even have to knock, because I'm immediately pulled into the rundown car wash. "Here." He hands me a bag.

I make quick work of strapping it onto my back. "All you gotta do is inject one of the main wires with the vile, if all else fails…"

"Emergency explosives." I finish for him, nodding. "See you on the other side comrad." I give him a good smack to the back.

"You say it like you're gonna die."

"Nah, I'll be fine. Later." I step over all the extra computer cords and make my way outside. Keeping my head down and body in darkness, I avoid any unwanted heros.
