It wasn't till a few hours later that the doctor actually woke up. Morgan ended up being passed out on the chair beside Reid's bed, still holding his hand. When Reid opened his eyes, he was meant with a bright light which sent a burning sensation throughout his whole body. But he didn't let that bother him. He looked around the room trying to see where he was. He was having trouble grasping the fact that he ended up being in the hospital. He was also having trouble remembering how the hell he ended up here. It was like a certain spot in his mind was just missing a piece of time.
He saw that no one was in the room, well till he looked beside him. He saw the chocolate-colored man that was holding his hand. It was cute, that he just fell asleep while holding his hand, he didn't think people did that anymore.
It was also nice to see him so calm and in a resting state, one that didn't look worried or panicked. He let a small smile rest on his face. He was still confused as to why he had gotten there.
But it didn't take long for someone to walk into the room and tell him, and that someone was Hotch. When Hotch walked into the room he was not expecting to see Spencer up and about, or awake as a better way of putting it.
So Hotch let a small smile from his face seeing the younger member of his team awake. "I see you're awake." -He says while sitting in a chair on the other side of the room.
"Yea... What happened though? I don't remember anything.." Reid said in a soft voice.
Hotch looked at him in a shocked face, one that said, 'How the hell could you not remember what happened or how you ended up in here.' So Reid kept up the confused look because in turn he really was confused. So Hotch took in a deep breath, "You Overdosed.. You called me telling me that you did something wrong and then I guess I was on my way here." Hotch said rather quickly. He really didn't want to have to repeat or remember what happened to Reid, which was like a son to him. He hated to see the boy in distress, it was like putting a pit in his stomach.
Reid took in a deep breath, finally starting to remember the events that led up to this very moment. The feelings, the anxiety, the just everything. It made him want to just die at that very moment, he didn't want to face everyone after what had happened. Most importantly he didn't want to face Derek. He knew that he would be heartbroken and sad and probably pissed off. He knew that Morgan probably wouldn't forgive him for what he did.
Hotch decided to turn away from the sad subject, "Well, we were also told that you and Derek went on a date.."
Reid quickly whipped his head towards Hotch, he was not only confused but also scared. How the hell did he find out about that? Did Morgan tell him, did Morgan tell the whole team. Everything was scaring him. He didn't know that other people knew. Plus he did kinda tell Derek that he wanted to keep it on the down low. But even though Reid was feeling this way he couldn't help but put a smile on his face. He was happy to say that he did go on a date with Special Agent Derek Morgan. Most girls would die to be in his position.
He took in a deep breath and just smiled, "Yea we did. We kinda confessed in the bathroom." Reid let out a little chuckle. He was kinda happy that he could share this with people, but it still kissed him off because he didn't really get a say in who could know.
Hotch let out a small chuckle, but as he was doing so both men could hear the stir of Morgan waking up. Reid looked over at the boy that was asleep next to him. Morgan looked at Reid his eyes wide.
It didn't take long for the older gentleman to jump up out of the spot in his chair and strangle him in a hug. "Do you know how much you scared me?!" Morgan yelled at the genius who was wrapped up in his arms.
"I'm sorry, I was just in so much pain and I just wanted it to go away." Reid said rather quickly. He knew that what he did was not justifiable, but he just needed all the pain to go away. And taking the Dilaudid was the only way he could think to make it all go away.
"Reid I was there not long before you did that, you should have talked to me..." Morgan said while pulling away from the hug and looking Spencer in the eyes. Morgan didn't understand the pain that Reid was going through, he didn't understand how much it hurt to talk to someone or how much effort it took to do the little things. Morgan would never be able to comprehend any of it.
"I know, I know, it's just- I'm sorry," Reid said as tears started to fall down his face. Hotch took this as his cue to leave.
The two of them just sat on the hospital bed hugging one another, while one of them broke down. Reid felt so bad for what he did, he knew that he should have done better, he shouldn't have hurt his friends, hurt Morgan. So he just sat there and he cried into the older man's chest.
______
It didn't take long for the boy to stop crying, it also didn't take long for him to fall asleep in Derek's arms.
To Derek it felt nice, it felt nice to know that Spencer was alive and well, it also felt nice to have him back in his arms where he should belong. To Derek, that's all that matters, having the intelligent young man in his arms.
