At a river within a forest

Ilene POV

I watched as the water of the river quickly rushed past me and like always it reminded me of that day. The day that I lost my family, that day that made me alone.

No matter the number of royals or workers I became friends with, without them I still felt alone.

I miss them so much.

I miss how caring and compassionate my mother was.

I miss how safe I always felt around father and lastly.

I miss my brother, I miss how playful and joyous he always was. I miss his joy-filled eyes and his smile that could brighten even the darkest of rooms.

I hope wherever you are little brother. I hope you are as happy as when you were a young child.

I ended up moving and began to walk alongside the river, following along the path that my little brother once did.

Eventually, I made it to the point where the streams across the land tunnelled into the main one.

It was just like any of my other walks; the tree leaves rustled against the wind the same, the small little bugs flew around the same, the birds sang their song and the water rushed through the river.

It was a normal walk until I noticed something stuck in between the funnelling streams. What is that?

I walked over to the stream and as I approached I saw that it was some type of object bumping into a rock.

"What in the world!" I exclaimed out of shock. I got closer and I realised that it wasn't just some object, it was a person.

I quickly surrounded the body with aura and pulled it out of the water. I think it's a boy.

I have to check his vitals. Why in the world is there a random boy in the river?

As I put him on the ground, I turned him onto his back and looked down at his face. What I saw made my entire body go rigid.

"N-no, it can't be," I said in disbelief as I saw a boy with dry blood all over his face, his left eye completely black, several broken bones poked through his skin, his arms disfigured, legs covered with several deep cuts and most importantly a scar.

A scar that I knew so very well, a scar that stretched from above his eyebrows to the very centre of his forehead.

After several years the bloody face of my little brother lied before me. What happened to you?

"I never would have imagined that the moment we reunited you would be like this," I said as tears fell down my face. What happened to you little brother?

"No, I won't let my family die out, Oh Lord, he's losing so much blood and his injuries are too great for me to heal with my energy level,"

"I have to get him back to the castle," I then pick his body up with Aura and run as fast as I can back towards the kingdom.

The journey gave me deep feelings of déjà vu, for once I ran this path, it led to me losing my brother, but today it will lead to me being able to see his smile once again.

After a while, I ended up making it back to the kingdom where several guards approached me.

"Your Majesty, where have you been?!" Said the Marks, the captain of Kingdom guards.

"I need to get to the castle quickly! Move out the way!" I yelled to the guards who were slowing me down and pushed my way through.

"I will not lose my brother again!" I yelled out and continued to run back to the castle, with no resistance from Marks who was frozen in place by my statement.

I made it back to the castle and ran past every person within the castle, they all moved out of the way in haste as I bustled through with a body behind me.

I ran towards the castle healer. She can help! I know it!

I burst through the door to see an elderly woman sitting across her bed. Her face was wrinkled but it always bore that warm and calming smile, and her eyes always gave me a feeling of warmth.

"Ilene dear what's the matter?" Said the elderly woman.

"My Brother! Help him please!" I practically begged her as I brought him into the room to which all she could respond with were widened eyes of shock.

"Your brother? You mean th-,"

"Please grandmother heal him quickly. I don't have enough aura, please do it quickly!" I interrupted her as tears ran down my face as I saw the blood pouring out my brother as if it was water flowing through a river.

She quickly took him from me and put him down on the bed to begin the healing. I watched as my grandmother, the healer who's raised me ever since my parents died, the person who's been the closest person to emanating the love of my family healing the one person who can bring that back. As she healed him my mind shifted through all the great memories I can make with my brother, all the fun things I never had a chance to do with my brother. Please get better brother, I really need to see your bright smile again.

I continued to ponder about my new life with my brother in it, the life of happiness from his joyous eyes and bright smile.

"What in the world?" said a shocked grandmother.

"What's the matter, Grandmother!?'" I asked with great fear behind my voice. "He's going to be ok right?!"

"Calm down dear, he's going to be alright." She said reassuringly which would have calmed me down if I wasn't worried about what shocked her. "However, this is very interesting,"

"W-What's interesting?" I asked very hesitantly in fear of what she would say.

"Well by looking at all these injuries he should be dead,"

I couldn't even respond to the statement, what does she mean by he should be dead?

"I can see that he inherited the powerful pure silver aura that your father had, but even that wouldn't keep him alive. His body is healing so fast that it would put your father's healing abilities to shame," As she explained the uniqueness of my brother all I could do was stand there in silence as I racked my mind for a possible cause. What even is my brother?

Third-person POV

Ilene racked her mind on the topic of her brother for hours until it finally came time for her to return to her quarters to get some rest. As she drifted off into slumber all she could think about was what miracle caused her brother to be safe and finally, she was asleep.

What seemed like immediately she saw visions that were all too familiar.

Explosions, flashes of red light, terrified screams, the crying of young children.

"What's going on?'' she said out loud but it seemed to be drowned out by the atmosphere of the vision.

She then saw a forest and moments later she was on the ground in pain near a rushing river, a massive wave of destruction quickly approached her. She then saw her baby brother in her arms and she then realised what this was.

"This is that day isn't it?"

She had finally come to understand what this vision was. It was of the very day she lost her family and mere moments after this revelation she saw her baby brother in a basket as she said her goodbyes. As this happened Ilene couldn't help but feel happy that her brother was back, but she also felt like she was not alone in watching these moments play out.

She saw as the events played from her cleaning up his cut to her saying her goodbyes and then to when she saw him floating away. Just as she felt like this was the end of the vision, she witnessed a ball of great golden light enter her baby brother. Feeling of fear, curiosity, worry, happiness and many more rushed into her head after witnessing the great ball of golden light enter her brother. Then everything went white.

"Brother!!" Ilene yelled as she awoke from her dream in a cold sweat.

Boooom!!

"What in the world was that?!?" She got out of bed and ran out of her room to check it out.

Sounds of objects being thrown around were heard throughout the castle, feelings of immense power resonated all over the kingdom. The feeling of this great power increased with each step as Ilene walked towards the room her brother was situated in. Until she arrived at where the door should've been to enter his room, the power was now more intense than ever before, raging winds were tearing apart the items in the room. Within all this power and destruction, there was her little brother floating in the middle of it.

His hair black hair was now golden, his amber eyes she remembers emitted a bright golden glow. His body was engulfed in what seemed like a golden aura. Ilene stood there in awe at the great power that was coming from her brother. Her thoughts quickly flickered through the memories of where this power could have come from until she came to the moment many years ago, where she witnessed that great golden ball enter her brother. She finally realised how different and special her brother really was.

She knew she had to stop him and so she started to approach him, with much struggle and many shouts of disapproval Ilene made it to her brother. Though when she was near enough to see his face, what she saw was not the joyful boy that she thought he would be. What Ilene saw was a boy who looked like a shell of himself, what she saw behind the bright golden aura was nothing but darkness.

"Little brother!? What happened to you!?" she yelled out, but it was silenced by the chaos inflicted by the great gusts of wind. Though as she said it her eyes immediately connected with that of her brother's, what she saw next had left her horrified.

Ilene witnessed the brutal betrayal of her brother, she saw how he lived much of his life alone. She saw how almost his entire life was filled with people calling him weird or a freak, people either looking at him as some type of odd monster or just a zoo animal.

Ilene saw how difficult his life was and cursed at herself for ever complaining about her's. She saw how these so-called friends of her brother became his source for happiness, how these people brought out the person she remembered her brother as. She saw how much these people meant to him only for them to spit on the love he had for them and brutally beat him to a pulp.

"Wait, where am I?"

She then realised that she was witnessing her brother's memories and was filled with confusion about how she was here.

"How is this possible?"

The memories soon continued, knocking her out of her confusion.

Ilene witnessed how many of these people committed this sin with little to no remorse. Everything began to become dizzy from the constant hits to the head. No sound seemed to penetrate through the memory, except the begs of what sounded like a girl. Who was that? thought Ilene, and as if someone heard her all of a sudden, she was rushed with memories of the girl called Autumn who her brother had seemed to have fallen for.

She saw the cute and awkward moments these two shared, and if it wasn't for everything she had just seen this would have brought her great happiness.

She saw as Autumn begged for them to stop hurting Aaron while being restrained by two strange figures.

"Aaron, so that's your new name, little brother." It pained Ilene that this was the manner that she was learning his new name, that she had to see him in unimaginable pain to find out.

She saw him enter the state he was in now and then she saw the same girl on the floor clearly injured. Ilene saw her brother run alongside a river and up a mountain, she witnessed him break down into tears of rage and sadness.

Ilene hated seeing him like this. She hated to see the baby boy who could brighten up a whole room in the depths of darkness.

"WHY! Why did this happen to him, what did he do to deserve this!!" as she shouted those words out, she was pulled out of Aaron's memories and was placed in a seemingly empty white space. Where am I now, thought Ilene.

"Because I know He can become more," said a stag-like creature that had materialised into space.

"Ilene, Queen of Auran we must talk," said the creature with a great amount of authority.

After a while, Ilene was back in her brother's room, but it seemed like the chaos had stopped.

She looked around to see Aaron on the floor desperately gasping for air, the stress of the past memories from both the dreams had taken a toll on him. The memories of all the pain he had been through strangling him while he was forced to witness them. Ilene quickly sat him up,

"Hey it's ok, I'm here, you're not alone," she said while gently rubbing the back of his head.

Aaron looked up at her and immediately recognized her as his sister from his dream, for a moment he was rejoiced by the fact that he was not alone. Though as soon as that thought entered his mind it was replaced by every bit of pain he had gone through.

Not being able to hold it in for longer, he just began to cry, no sound of despair, no signs of sadness on his face. It was as if these tears were the last bit of emotion in him draining away. Just a river of tears fell down his face as he was hugged tightly by his sister.

Ilene at the sight of her brother crying without the look of any emotion had come to an understanding.

The Brother she had at a time was nearly dead, and she would do everything she can to bring him back. And moments later Aaron had finally succumbed to his exhaustion and was asleep.

Ilene picked him up and brought him to a new room. She placed him in bed and gave him a light kiss on the forehead as she did many years ago.

"I will make up for not being there for you all those years, Aaron,"
