I hold my hands out to Kei as he laughs and looks between Kakashi and I.
"Come on baby! Pick me for once."
I watch as he happily crawls over towards Kakashi, babbling and giggling excitedly when Kakashi picks him up and holds him out above his head.
"Daddy's boy." Kakashi laughs as he pokes his tongue out at me.
I get up from the plush rug of the living room and walk over towards the kitchen to start dinner.
"Fine. Since apparently you guys have a special bond, you can change that diaper of his because I can smell it from here." I spit my tongue out right back as I fill a pot up with water.
I hear him chuckle as he picks Kei up and under his arm like a football.
"Mama's jealous." Kakashi grumbles as he disappears in the direction of the nursery.
I grab some rice out of the pantry and put it into a small bowl to rinse it out and start on slicing the chicken.
"I swear he will be walking any day now."
I look up to see Kakashi leading Kei down the hallway as he holds onto his little hands to keep him steady.
Keitaro shrieks loudly with glee when he spots me smiling at him from the kitchen and tries to hurry towards me.
"Slow down. She's right there." Kakashi chuckles.
I watch as Kakashi picks him up by his hands and gently swings him back and forth, drawing out loud squeaky giggles from him.
He puts him into the little play pen we set up in the living room and he immediately becomes distracted by a singing stuffed bear as Kakashi closes the gate and comes into the kitchen to help me.
"I'll do the chicken." I nod my head and I walk back over to the sink to wash my hands.
"Have you given any more thought to the day care?"
My stomach does a small flip at the topic that I had been avoiding for a couple of weeks now.
"Lady Tsunade asked me again about when your leave is ending."
It's not that I don't want to go back to my Shinobi duties. It's the idea of leaving Kei that makes me feel sick. Even if it's for a day. It already took me so long to warm up to the idea of Sakura or Iruka watching him overnight every once in a while.
"She said she wouldn't send you on huge missions right away. Plus you've mentioned a few times that you've missed working."
"I do. I'm just afraid to leave him."
Kakashi turns to face me, offering me an understanding look.
"I've already told you my love. You don't have to go back. In fact, I would prefer that you didn't."
