CHAPTER 8: YUMIKA'S NEW LIFE

Sounds of blade shattering and the monsters' scream could be heard in the forest. That night was the eeriest time of the forest. From small ones to medium sized , killed by Yumika. The ones who were late to escape already killed and the rest fled to deeper part of the forest. Yumika was worn out, her clothes were burned and torned from the fight. She barely able to stand as she already exhausted her stamina. She stood with the helped of her sword, but finally she passed out and fell to the ground. Not long after that, Kuro who had been following and observing her all night, came down from the tree. He watched the surrounding to ensure no monsters were nearby. He used his coat to cover Yumika's body. Then he carried her and rushed back to their camp. "Well done Yumika." Kuro said on his way back. Yumika as if she heard that sentence smiled. Kuro glad she didn't get any fatal injury from her self training.

Back at their camp, Kuro laid her down inside the tent, treat her wound and sit under a tree after he finished. He remembered that both of them couldn't remember their own mother at all. Kuro also remembered that his life is much better compared to her. Everyday he happily enjoy his time with his sister and father. While Yumika, she lived a painful life for years. She didn't get her freedom as a child. He then open a notebook of his. Inside, was a list of things he wanted to accomplish. There were already some that is checked. He then proceed to add another one to the list. It was to make Yumika happy. He put his book back in his pocket and he finally slept.

Morning soon came and the sun light reach the campsite. Kuro woke up and did a warm up. He trained his swing and magic for about 30 minutes. After he done a bit of training, he went to the tent checking Yumika's condition. When he entered it. He found her already woke up, but she was naked and he could see it clearly i with his eyes. Yumika saw Kuro and he quickly closed the tent. He said his sorry for seeing her but she said it was fine since he is her master. Hearing her reply Kuro told her where her change of clothes was and he wondered just how distorted her mind is because of the slavery. After she done changing he went outside and sat beside him. Kuro asked her about her wound while removing bandage. He also told her that her reaction is not normal for a girl.

Yumika told her that she was used to be seen naked as her former master wanted nude women to serve him. She only had a chance to wear clothes when she is free from duty. Kuro felt bad hearing it and told her that he would find someone to teach her common sense. She gladly agree to it even though she didn't fully understood about "what is common sense?". Kuro then saw her wounds and most of them still need more treatment. He told her to took a bath at a nearby lake. She happily obey his order and immediately went away. Kuro put some trap near the camp and have a bath at a river. From afar he could see Yumika's happy face as she enjoy her finally came true dream. When she was about to undress he quickly looked away and finished his bath.

When he backed at the camp he prepared some bandage and first aid medicine. Yumika returned when he was preparing and he told her to come. She sit down and let him treat the wound. Yumika felt a bit of pain as he apply the medicine to the wound. He then apply the bandage to the wound and told her to not recklessly do some training again. They both packed up their belongings and went back to the city again.

At the city of valmoore, Kuro stopped the horse on military stable. He and Yumika walked on foot to the military training ground. On the way, Yumika looked her surrounding in awe. Food stalls on roadside, horse carriage and people passing there. She was happy to see the new scenery. When she was enjoying sightseeing, Kuro bought some streetsnacks. He gave it to her and she accepted it happily. She bit the food and she loved it so much. She told him that it was the first time she ate those kinds of food. Kuro just smiled to her and said that they had to walk faster to destination. As they walked people attention centered toward the collar on Yumika's neck. They all felt disgusted toward Kuro as he was a trainee to begin with. Kuro ignored their chit chat and hold Yumika's hand as he walked.
