I opened my eyes very slowly. The room was dark, except for the TV screen, which was on with the morning news. There was a ball of warmth curled up on my legs.
"Mornin'," Crystal said. She opened up the windows.
"Ow!" I cried out as the sun's rays entered. I startled Emily, who jumped out of my lap. "Why does it have to be so bright!" I heard Jordan laughing from the kitchen. I smelled the delicious scent of omelets. Emily rubbed her cheek against my hand.
"Are you excited for your first day of work?" Jordan called out from the kitchen. I rubbed my face.
"Can you repeat that?"
"Jordan asked if you're excited for your first day of work," Crystal said. I groaned.
"When do I start?" I whined.
I rode my bike up to Dave's pizza, with my uniform on. There were people already in the restaurant. I opened the door and walked up to the counter. There was a freckled kid running the cash register.
"Oh hey," he said. I gave him a wave. I was still tired. "Are you the new deliverer?" he asked. I nodded. He smiled and handed me a helmet and keys.
"What's with the helmet?" I asked.
"You'll see," he answered. "The bike's in the back." I walked past the employees only door and out in the alley. There was the red motorbike, polished and shiny with a compartment in the back for the pizza. I looked down at the keys.
"Nice," I said. I ran my fingers on top of the leather seat. The freckled kid came outside holding at least twenty pizza boxes.
"You need to take these to the Cherry Blossoms Complex Apartments," he said, setting them in the compartment. "Do you know where that is?" I scoffed.
"Of course I do," I answered. "I live there."
"Then you should get done quickly," he said, leaving. I sneered at him, but he didn't see. He also didn't see me sticking out my tongue.
The new bike was fast and efficient! I got to the apartments quickly and early. I entered the lobby and took the elevator to the first floor where Ms. Candeson lived with her eighteen cats.
I knocked on the door while getting her cheese pizza. Moments later, she opened the door.
"Hello Y/n," she said, smiling. "It's good to see you."
"Hey Ms. Candeson," I answered.
"Is that what I ordered?" she asked. I nodded, handing her the box. "Thank you my dear."
"You're welcome," I said. I was about to leave when she stopped.
"Oh dear," she said. "Wait here." Ms. Candeson disappeared for a moment and then returned with a twenty dollar bill in her hands. She put it in my hands. "Take it," she said.
"Thanks," I replied, smiling. She smiled back.
"Goodbye y/n," she said.
"Goodbye Ms. Candeson," I said. I left for the second floor where Davie and Marc partied twenty four seven. I knocked on the door, hard. Marc opened the door. There were black rings around his eyes.
"Hi Y/n," he said.
"Marc," I answered. I shoved the pizza in his hands and left. I headed up to the third floor, where Jordan and Crystal lived with me.
"HEY!!!" They both exclaimed as I handed them their pizza. They handed me ten bucks.
"HEY!!!" We hugged each other. "Ok, now I've gotta go." I said. Crystal frowned.
"Fine, see you tonight," she said. She closed the door and I walked to the new neighbor's door. I knocked on the door.
"Coming!" his voice called out. He opened the door just enough so that I could see the inside of his living room.7
"Pizza time," I said, smiling.
"Why don't you come in?" he asked. "I will be there in a moment." I opened the door completely.
This was gonna be quick.
Right?
