Right after Gus left for the studio, I got out of bed and left for the pharmacy.
Trying to be discreet, I picked out a pregnancy test, paid, and got out of there as fast as I could.
Now, I was sitting on the toilet, staring at the two lines that had just popped up on the stick.
I was pregnant.
Holy shit.
I didn't think anything when I missed my period, I'm late quite a bit. But when I started throwing up in the mornings and Aunt Flo never came, I recalled the night after Peep proposed and knew exactly what happened.
Trying to keep myself calm, I went into the kitchen to get a cup of coffee.
Wait, hadn't I read somewhere before that coffee was bad for babies?
Shit.
I settled on a bottle of water and went back to the bedroom.

I called Gus.
Ring.
Ring.
Click.
"Hey mommas, what's up?" Gus said. I heard music and Tracy asking Horsehead for a hit off his blunt so I knew he wasn't too busy.
"Can you come home? Please?" My voice quivered and Gus could tell I was on the verge of tears.
"What's wrong? Are you ok, baby? Talk to me." I could sense the concern creeping into his voice.
"Gus just please come home. It's important."
I heard Tracy asking Peep if he was ok and Peep shushing him.
"I'm on the way, princess. I love you. I'll see you in about 15."
"I love you too."

10 minutes later Gus bursted through the door and saw me crying on the couch.
He ran over to me and wrapped his long arms around my waist, planting soft kisses on my neck.
"What's wrong, sweetheart?"
"Come with me."
I stood up, wiped my eyes, and walked to the bathroom, Gus trailing after me with his arm around my shoulders.
I picked the pregnancy test up off edge of the sink and handed it to him.
"Oh shit."
He swallowed and looked up at me.
"This is real?"
I nodded.
"Not a joke?"
I nodded again.
He took a deep breath and wrapped me in his arms, holding me in a long hug.
"I should have known you missed your period. Didn't threaten to kick me out once this month." He joked, obviously trying to raise my spirits. I giggled and gave him a small kiss before pulling a way.
"So there are three options." I said. Gus sat on the edge of the bathtub to listen. "Abortion, adoption, or .. keeping the baby."
Peep took a slow breath. "It's your body. What do you want to do?"
I bit my lip. "I'm very pro-choice but I wouldn't personally get an abortion, so I think that's off the table."
"So there's adoption or keeping the baby."
I tugged at the edge of my sleeve. "If you were ok with it, I wouldn't mind having a baby Peep running around."
Gus grinned.
"I wouldn't mind that either."
"So we're keeping it?"
"We're keeping it."
Gus hopped off the bathtub, picked me up, and spun me around, then gave me a long kiss. He gently put me down, then got on his knees and kissed my stomach.
"The two loves of my life are right in front of me."
