"While Colby sages everyone, we need to think of a personal object and toss it in the fire." Sam says and Colby stands, saging him.
"And then we're also going to add names of the ghosts that are haunting us in the fire and that should cleanse us." He adds. Colby finishes saging me before moving onto himself, dancing adorably.
"I think we're ready to go." Colby says, waving the sage around one more time for good measure.
Sam writes down Lucy and the cowboy from the Stanley hotel and the shadow man.
"So to help out this ritual, we got a cowboy hat to symbolize the cowboy and lollipops for Lucy. And Corey's the representative of the shadow man."
"I don't want to anger the cowboy though," I say. "he was nice and he didn't do anything to prove otherwise."
"This shouldn't anger him." Colby assures. "This is just letting him free from us in case he attached to one of us."
"If you say so."
"So I'm putting in an XPLR sticker because y'know ever since I stopped playing with the ouija board, the only thing that made my life fucking haunted is you guys." Corey pauses as the boys laugh.
"I'm burning the key to the Biltmore Hotel." Sam holds out the card. "because that's what started it all."
"So we're burning just a personal item of ours?" Colby asks and Sam nods. He pulls out a cardboard picture of his face. "This has been haunting me for a long time in my life."
Sam sneezes as Colby tears a small piece off of the cardboard face. "Shut up."
"Jake...you gonna burn Shrek?" I ask. He hugs Shrek close to him, looking as if I told him I killed his mother.
"Fuck no."
"What are you burning?" Corey asks.
"Shrek DVD." He pulls it from behind him.
"What about you, Lee?" Colby asks.
I pull my rubber bracelet off of my wrist holding it up. "I wore this at both the Biltmore and the Stanley hotel."
"Alright, since Lee doesn't want to anger the cowboy, I'm gonna give him to Colby, Corey gets the shadow man, and a i'll take Lucy." Sam passes out the papers. "Ready?"
"Wait." Jake interrupts. "I know why I'm burning this. You guys know how I'm always on the verge of getting evicted? Well, my first eviction notice was when Colby slammed the Shrek VHS against my floor. This haunts me every day, brothers."
"Sorry, man." Colby says, stifling his laughs.
Sam counts down from 3 and we all toss our objects into the pot.
"This feels good." Colby shrugs, leaning forward in his chair.
"Shrek's not burning. That means we should take it out." Jake says, gesturing to the Shrek that's still good as new.
"Yeah, Shrek isn't bur-" Corey's cut off by a giant gasp from Colby as his chair falls back.
"Sam, Sam! Look!" He exclaims, jumping up from the ground. "there's a shadow over there!"
"No there wasn't!" Corey yells.
"Yeah, it went across right behind Jake."
"Let's fucking leave."
"Did you guys not see that?" Colby points into the woods.
"No," Jake and Sam say and I shake my head.
