Lee

"Hey, Mother." I sigh into the phone.

"Oakley Blake White. You will not speak in that tone with me." My mother huffs.

"I'm sorry, mother. To what do I owe this call?" I speak formally, rolling my eyes.

"Your father and I would like to meet up and have lunch." She responds, the sound of her smacking her gum comes through the speakers slightly.

"Why?" I ask, sitting down on the bed. Colby is in the shower and I can hear him singing a song. I showered before him.

"Because we would like to see you again." She exclaims, annoyed that i even asked.

"Really?" I scoff. "Well, my boyfriend is coming along. You don't have a say in that."

"Perfect. We can meet this so called 'boyfriend' of yours." She repeats.

"Okay, just text me the time and address." I roll my eyes as she says her goodbye. I hang up and her text comes through. Two hours from now, at a small cafe in town.

"Hey, what's that face for, sweetheart?" Colby comes out of the bathroom. Whatever expression was on my face- probably annoyed- fades at the name and forms into a smile.

"My parents want to have lunch in two hours." I answer as he lifts his palm to my cheek, rubbing it soothingly with his thumb.

"Do you want me to go?" He asks, adjusting the towel around his waist.

"I kind of told them you were," I smile sheepishly and he lets out a small chuckle whilst leaning down to kiss my head.

"Okay," He mumbles. "What a are we going to do until then?"

"Um, we can walk around. Maybe I can show you some of my favorite spots from when I was a kid." I shrug. We can't go see Christopher today, because he has a day full of getting tests done to make sure he is perfectly healthy.

"That sounds fun. What is the dress code for this lunch?" Colby asks whilst he walks over to his bag.

"Whatever. It's just a local cafe." He nods and starts digging through his bag.

I lean my head against my palm and watch as he throws clothes out into the hotel floor. He picks them up and heads back to the bathroom to change.

I lay back on the bed and scroll through twitter, having already been dressed from after my shower. I'm dressed in a pit of black cargo pants with a black cropped tank and a red and black plaid flannel. I plan on wearing my all-black high-top converse with it.

I see a few tweets about me and Colby. I don't understand what everyone is obsessing about. If we are dating- well, we are, they just don't know it, it is between us. not them. I guess I just have a hard time understanding why everyone cares so much.

I kind of just want to tell everyone. Maybe it will stop all of this fuss about us. Maybe after we tell everybody, and the initial talk, then it will all go back to normal.

"What are you thinking about, bub?" Colby waved his hand in front of my face, sitting beside me. He leans his head against his hand and throws an arm over my shoulders.

I notice his iconic Mickey Mouse crew neck and his favorite black jeans with chains on the sides.

"Why are people so obsessed with us dating?" I huff.

"Just ignore it, Lee. I promise you, it will go away." He says, brushing a piece of my hair back.

"It's 'cause you're hot, y'know that, right?" I look up at him with a small smile.
