Ezra slowly climbed out of the speeder, feeling his feet hit soft dirt. A moment later, something small and hard hit his shoulder, and, off-balance, he fell into the dirt.
"Hey!" Ezra slowly stood, only to have the same object-felt like a rock-hit him again. "Stop!"
Kota chuckled. "Make me." He threw another rock, this one striking Ezra in the thigh. "Get off the ground and make me."
Ezra growled in annoyance. "I can't!"
"Then quit."
Kota threw another rock, and Ezra latched on to his anger, grabbing the rock and hurling it back at Kota. "You're just a bully."
His retort, thrown in anger and desperation, almost seemed to cause Kota to laugh. "Life's full of them." He took a step forward. "What're you going to do about it, Kid?"
That extra step was all Ezra needed, and he kicked Kota's feet out from under him. As the old man fell, Ezra felt a grin appear, only to vanish as Kota laughed.
"Nice work, Kid." A hand touched his arm, and the General lurched him to his feet. "You knew how to sweep my legs. Where I'd be. You *saw* me."
Despite his annoyance, Ezra couldn't help but smile. This was it.
He slid into the ready position. "Let's go again."
. . . . . . . . . .
Sabine missed him, of course, but this was different from his isolation from before. Before, he was avoiding not only her, but his problems as well. Now he was working through them, and she couldn't be prouder.
She still missed him though.
Sinking onto their bed on the Gauntlet, Sabine laid back, tempted to comm Hera by way of distraction. After they had slipped away to go find Kota, Sabine had managed to convince the others to give Ezra space, that she would watch him.
Hera wasn't completely on board with it, but had returned to the Alliance.
Now they-
"Sabine Wren."
She grabbed Kanan's lightsaber and ignited it, pointing the blade at the voice coming from the shadows. "Who are you."
A young man, around Ezra's age, came forward, hands up. "Easy. I'm not here for you or Bridger." He looked down. "I need to find General Kota."
She didn't lower the lightsaber. "Why."
The man lifted a hand, and her blaster pistols flew out of her holsters and into his hand. "I need someone to teach me." He rested the pistols on bed. "General Kota is the only Master I know of."
Sabine grabbed one of the pistols with her free hand and pointed it at the man. "Who are you?" She repeated.
He sighed. "You can call me Starkiller."
Sabine frowned. "Your name is Starkiller?"
He nodded. "If you're captured by the Empire knowing my real name, and tell them-"
"I understand." Sabine lowered the pistol but kept the lightsaber up. "How did you find General Kota anyway?"
Starkiller's eyes darkened. "I was on Nar Shaddaa looking for him when I found you and Bridger. When Clone Force 99 found you, I followed. Then you left, and a few hours later, Kota left too. I simply followed him here."
Sabine lowered the lightsaber, but kept it activated. "What do you want, exactly?"
Starkiller leaned against the wall. "I'm trying to rally the Empire's enemies. This Rebellion you've built up is weak. I've studied battles like Atollon, like Lothal. If the Empire came at you in full force, you'd be finished. If you want to truly stand against the Emperor, you need powerful Force-Wielders at your side."
After a moment, Sabine returned the lightsaber to her belt. "Okay," she conceded. "The General and Ezra have gone away for a few weeks, to train Ezra to see again."
"Do you know when he's coming back?"
She shook her head. "No. And I'm not sure he'll be in the right state of mind to teach you."
He offered her a small smile. "Guess I'll stick around then." he grabbed a lightsaber of his own off his hip and offered it to her. "Here. I know you don't trust me."
Sabine warily took the lightsaber and activated it, staring at the brilliant blue blade that lit up the room. Switching it off, she put it on the bed. "Thanks."
Nodding at her, Starkiller turned around and headed to the ramp. "I left my comm frequency on your table. Let me know when Kota comes back."
Sabine followed him onto the plains. "What are you going to do?"
He turned back and grinned. "I've developed a gift for finding missing Jedi. May as well see if I can convince them to join."
. . . . . . . . . .
Carefully, he peered into the detached scope. "Control, I have eyes on the bounty."
His comm crackled to life. *'Copy. The client wants them alive, so you'll have to be careful.'*
Frowning, he zoomed in on the cylindrical object on the girl's waist. "That might be difficult." He sighed. "I think the girl's a Force Wielder."
*'That complicates things.'* There was silence for a moment. *'You're sure it's her?'*
He nodded, pulling up her picture in his HUD. "Sabine Wren," he spat. His finger tapped the grip of his holstered pistol before moving his hand away. "She's alone, no sign of the other one."
*'You'll need to confirm both identities to claim the bounty.'*
Sedyn Marr smiled grimly as he reattached the scope to his sniper rifle. "Don't worry. For me, this is personal."
. . . . . . . . . .
Chapter Notes!
I). Did you think me gone? Yeah, me too, for a while. See, I have this new project I'm working on. It's a collaboration that is based around one idea: what if the Jedi were on spice (the drug) during the events of Star Wars? It's...grown and expanded and I'm really quite pleased with the progress we've made. BUT, that means my other projects, FYA included, have suffered.
II). That being said, I can't promise frequent updates. I can't promise long updates. I can promise that eventually more pieces will be added to For You Alone, and who knows, maybe you'll see this Spiced Jedi AU somewhere. We're almost at 100k words now. It's awesome!
III). So, hey! Starkiller is here! And so is a mysterious bounty hunter that seems to dislike Sabine. How interesting... I smell confrontation!
Thanks for reading! Please don't yell at me for being late!
