Please don't cry

Growing old was

never for me.

The "old" part of it

perhaps is not so bad.

But it's the growing

It's the watching blue veins

creep up your ankles

And the pressure that builds

in your throat that comes with

reminiscing, knowing you

can never return.

That's the part that

scares me the most.

But you cannot skip

chapters, so I have

decided not to read

them at all.

This is a good decision,

I promise.

You will thank me

One day, when the sun

rises and the stars fade

You will realize this is

just how it was meant to be.

Autumn leaves do not

attempt to fly

after they've fallen

So why should I?

I do not mean to say that

I am some otherworldly

power who has chiseled this

fate in, next to Shakespeare's

death and the fall of Rome.

No, I only wish for you

not to worry.

I do not want to see you cry.
