The sun had broke from its sleep and my plan had immediately came to action, I ran down the hill so I would be inside the HQ when the guards would start patrolling again. My heart started racing when I heard footsteps inside the building that I was hiding behind. But it could've easily have been the prisoners of war because the building I was hiding behind was the holding cell building I saw yesterday. I creeped along the right wall as slowly as a sloth, the tension was real as some voices kept growing the more I was nearing the front of the holding cells. When I reached the farthest I could go, I peeked around the corner to spot some Germans guarding the holding cell. Where are they? I said to myself. They should be here. I started to worry that my plan would become a failure and the shame would come crawling back. Then the earth started rattling, the rocks vibrated and jumped up like happy maggots. And then there was chaos, I saw smoke smoke that was close to the HQ and the gunshots kept coming. They had come, I contacted reinforcements with the black box I had found in the bush. There were tanks sniping out some of the defenses and I could hear the Germans screaming in agony. This was my chance, I grabbed my gun and rammed the butt of my gun into the back of the Germans head. When he fell down the other one looked at me and pointed his gun at me. But I was quicker and grabbed my knife out of its holster and slit his throat instead of gunfire so I wouldn't draw attention. The keys were dangling out of the pocket of the left guard and so I grabbed it and unlocked the wooden door. As I entered I couldn't believe my eyes there were dozens of cells each one was full. They had been racking up the prisoners and keeping them here.
I unlocked each and every cell and freed the men from there filthy prisons. Grab weapons and ammunition because we're heading out into a war zone. I ordered. The men grabbed their guns from the armory and stood by the door. When the Captain walked by he hugged me and said: "thank you." I felt relieved to hear that and my moral went from below zero to very high since I wasn't drowning in shame anymore. I reached for my gun and raised into the air and said: For freedom and liberty! The men roared like lions in a pride. We rammed through the door guns blazing dropping every German in sight. Run for the hills, I yelled and they obeyed running for the tree line. The Captain stayed, Captain Go! I screamed. "We will do this together," I smirked and agreed running toward the main bunker. We crept toward the bunker avoiding as many Germans as possible. I was carrying c4 with me in tiny pockets with a remote control detonator. I gave half of them to the Captain so he would be able to assist me. We placed a couple on the outside but we had to place some on the inside but that would be more difficult. We used small explosive to breach the metal door and we ran through the bunker placing the c4 every five yards. We had almost placed the last c4 explosive just as a flying fist knocked me to the ground. It was Brad and he looked furious, "you ruined my opportunity!" He screamed. Brad readied his fist again and flung his fist toward me but I rolled just in time to avoid his punch. And with the roll I knocked his feet off the ground and he tumbled to the floor. Captain Mustard tackled back to the ground as he struggled to get back up. He let him go to get back up, and he stood without saying a word. Come back with us and leave your past behind, I said. "No, I failed to protect my country and my family. He picked up a Desert Eagle off the ground and pointed it at his head and said: See you in another life, and then he saluted. I leaped forward to stop him but the bullet had already left the gun and into the flesh. He fell to the ground as I landed beside him. A puddle of blood formed under his head as he lay there lifeless. You will not go down in vain, I promised myself. We ran to the location were we would plant the last c4 explosive. And we left the vicinity of the bunker running to the edge of the range that the remote control contained. We hid behind a rock as the explosion erupted out of eyesight. The debris flew everywhere so we made our escape dodging falling metal scraps. We had reached the tree line where are troops were, they gave out a greeting yell as we had crossed the border of the forest. We felt like heroes that had saved the world, well at least the eastern side of it. The war seemed like it was coming to an end as our forces pushed through the German lines. We fired our guns in joy that the war had ended. The Captain yelled out into the crowd of men: "who are we!" Paratroopers! The men joined in glorious unity. Yes we are.
