Holo Robbins: Prologue

~ Prologue ~

"Sit down now!" Damein yelled. "I told your mother I would keep you safe until she came back!" I turned on him. My eyes were red with anger. How could he keep me from my mother? The war is finished anyway. I don't see what is the big deal. "Don't give me that look. I am not allowing you to step out that door until your mom gives me clearance" he said walking back to the chair he had sat in for at least 8 hours straight.

"The war is over and my mom is out there!" I shot at him. "If you want to try to stop me, go ahead. But I am going out there whether you like it or not!" I knew if he wanted me to stay in that house, he could very well make me. So I turned around and ran out the door. I heard him swear behind me as I ran and I laughed. I swirled around and ran backwards. "Better luck next time, old man!" I smiled. I turned back towards my destination. My tail swayed happily as I heard the angels' victory cry.

I heard Uncle John's voice. I was just about to run and hug when I saw him turn on my mother and stab her. "Mom!! No!!" I yelled. I heard Uncle John shout "Once a mutt, always a mutt!" I ran to her and held my mom as she bled to death.

"You?" Uncle John said. " No. Your not supposed to be here!" Then I saw one of the angels rush toward me with a sword poised to kill me. I heard Damein rush in front of me and fall to the ground with the sword jabbed in his heart. A second later, he was ash and I was completely alone, except for my dying mother.

"Holo, run!" she said. " They want you dead and you must live. So run!" I laid her there on the ground, kissed her forehead, and whispered "I love you, Mommy." Her eyes fluttered closed. I knew she was dead. I picked up a burning branch and set her body on fire. As I watched my mother burn, my life changed forever.
