~Chapter 5~

(Back to Holo’s point of view)

I took in my surroundings. I was in the living room of Damien’s house. I could hear joyful sounds and voices coming in from the windows and kitchen. Sunlight flooded in through the windows around me. I could tell by the smell of the air that it was summer.

“Hello, Darling. I am glad you are awake, Sweetie. We have been waiting for you” my mother said as her elegant face appeared in the doorway to the kitchen. Damien and Aunt Luna faded in behind her. Aunt Luna ran to me and hugged me. Damien smiled and motioned me to follow him.

“Come on, Kiddo. Everyone’s waiting for ya,” he called behind him as he turned to go into the kitchen.

Something’s wrong. They are all dead. But how are they here? And who’s waiting on me and why?, I thought. I cautiously stepped through the doorway into the kitchen. As soon as my foot landed on the other side, everyone yelled “Surprise!” I fell back into my mother’s arms.

“Happy fifteenth birthday, Darling”, my mom whispered peering down at me. My eyes widened.

What? I must be dreaming. Or….or worse. I must be dead!, I screamed inside my head. Then I heard the screams and I knew I was in no Heaven. I turned toward the middle of the kitchen slowly. I saw the flutter of a wing through the window.

Angels, I gasped. Just then Uncle John burst through the back door. His bleach blonde hair was windblown from flying. His eyes were eerily hazy blue….and staring right at me.

“Your not dead yet, but you will be…..soon!” he shouted. He lunged toward me. Sword poised over his head, just waiting to be plunged through my heart.

Damien stepped out, along with my mother, to defend me. John easily and smoothly sliced his sword through their stomachs. Blood sprayed out on the wall as he ended the lives off all my innocent guests. I could feel the rage boiling up in me. The pressure of trying to hold down my temper weighed down on me. I was losing my will to keep it down. I griped the wall to keep me steady and give me some leverage.

After he took the life of the last guest, he turned to me and sneered. He started to advance toward me.

“Now time to fix the mistake that mutt made” he proclaimed. “Time to kill you!” Then, I felt my eyes turn red.
