You paused for a moment to steel yourself and continue to sweep the shatter plate and food that splattered on the floor.

"Good moring, please take a seat wherever you'd like I'm get to you in a moment." You called casually gesturing to the empty diner

"We're not here to eat ma'am." God the voice of this man made you want to gag, such a condescending bastard, "But if you could answer a few questions."

"Mm, again you'll have to wait a moment." You stated crouching down to gather the shattered plate and mug, "Butterfingers you know!"

"No it's quite fine, take your time." God shut up

You met eyes with Kaamakya who had wedged herself between the shelf of mugs and the sink she was pale and terrified almost shaking. Remaining calm you smiled a little in an attempt to reassure her as you stood back up to dump the dust pan into the trash.

The cold gaze of Shinjitsu Shi prickled along your skin as you took the short walk to the can, the touch of unease raised the gooseflesh on the back of your neck. Adjusting the tie of your apron you walked back towards the spindly man who has been sitting there watching in a much more concerned manner.

Placing a new mug before him you turned to grab the coffee pot, "My apologies sir! I'll get you a new meal on the house!" It was a silent almost pathetic plea that he wouldn't mention the teen hiding under the counter as you poured him a fresh mug of coffee

Turning back to face Shi you offered him your best "i don't get paid enough to be nice to you customer smile", "And what can I help you with sir? You mentioned questions?"

"Yes." The man stroked his chin taking you in for a moment, "We are in pursuit of a quirked person who was interfering with a brugarly, have you seen anything?"

You hummed softly before gesturing to the off colored tv, "You mean that girl on the tv? I haven't seen anything, and if I did I would report it, you know, like a good civilian."

Shi hummed, his gaze finally leaving you to watch the mentioned tv still playing the news report about the bugarly. He watched for a moment before looking back to you a frown twitching his expression before he sighed.

"Alright thank you for your time, if you see anything, anything, report it immediately," His brows lowered before be half bowed, "Have a good rest of your morning," He turned to the only patron, "And you too sir."

With that Shinjitsu Shi and his men left. Kaamakya tried to get up out of cover but with the hand you placed on her head to keep her in the safety of cover. Her nervous gaze searched for your own and you simply shook your head. With the grip you had on her head you turned her to face towards the swinging door leading to the kitchen and the back entrance. She got the message quickly and like that she was gone with a gush of wind and a few displaced napkins.

Bringing your hands to your face and rubbed with a tired frown, a low groan rumbling through your chest. God that kid is gonna be the death of you, if the stress of worrying about her, the city, the CCP, and your own rent payments and job didn't eat you alive first.

"You seem like you need a vacation.." You peaked over to the paton before rolling your shoulders a little

"Can't I need this job for rent, adult worries you know." you muttered shaking your head a little, "Thank you by the way, for not saying anything."

The blonde man didn't respond, he sat up a little straighter his large hands curled around the coffee mug that has never looked smaller in his hold. It seemed like he had more to say but didn't say anything.

Pressing your knuckles against your lips thinking a little, "You work at a hero school? I don't think you ever mentioned which one."

He perked a little and nodded hand rubbing the back of his neck, "O-oh, U.A High School, it's really not what you'd think it would be." He chuckled a little, "It's nice to see all the potential to help the world in all of the students and what great heroes they will be."

You smiled a little at the warmth and pride in his tone, "I know that feeling, I..." You drawled a little trying to figure out how to word it, ".. Tutor a neighbor girl. I've been babysitting her for some extra cash. She's so bright and works so hard I can't wait to see what she does."

"I know what you mean, I have a pupil that works so hard and has made so much progress, even if he has a long way to go, I am proud of him."

"Sounds like you have a favorite~" You teased sending the order of food he had back to the kitchen again

His sputtering caused you to laugh, what an odd man. You were happy he had wandered into this diner, you wouldn't mind him coming in often.
