When Joey and Colleen first met, Joey wasn't exactly sure what to make of her at first. Despite that, he did his best to be warm and welcoming toward her. She eventually warmed up to him, and a bond blossomed between them. She was surprised to learn that he was a co-founder of Slipknot and actually came up with the name. She asked him once what the band's name would have been if he hadn't made his suggestion, and he replied by shrugging and saying, "I dunno, something stupid." They had both laughed at that.
Now, Colleen remembers that moment fondly. It was a happy memory that eased her otherwise overwhelming period of mourning. Since Joey's departing from the band, they had texted and met up often to catch up with each other. That was some solace. But now she was no longer able to do that.
She had to remind herself that death was a natural part of life, but to have him go so soon... It just wasn't fair.
Corey and the other band members tried to help- hell, even Jake called her up and tried to comfort her- but despite their efforts, it would be a while for Colleen to get over this. She hadn't been around when Paul passed in 2010, but she knew how much the guys and the fans missed him. She knew this would hurt them just as much, maybe even worse because this was the second member they lost, while this was her first. Even though she was hurting like someone had driven a red-hot knife between her ribs, she realized that they must have been grieving twice as badly.
So she tried to get them to celebrate his life. Remembering his positive influence on the band and the fans should bring them some comfort. She also told them that he and Paul were watching over them, and that they wouldn't want the members to be sad; rather, their memories should be cherished.
Colleen knew the road to healing would be long, but she was willing to help her family and her fans any way she can.
Joey may be gone, but his memory will live on in his band and his fans.(A/N: If anyone needs any words of comfort, feel free to DM me. I don't want you guys to feel alone in your grieving. I'm here for you. Love you ❤❤❤)
