19. Regrets

Bennett's Perspective

It's been 10 years, I got a job that can help get money for my dad. I've been hanging out with Fischl ever since that incident, she was being annoyingly clingy and I keep declining her request to eat in the same table at lunch.

"Bennett! Would you like to sit with me now?" Fischl asks.

"No, just..let me be.."

"Ok!"

She happily hops to the table where Xingqiu and Chongyun are sitting. It annoys me how care free she is, and I regret hanging out with her.

I regret everything, dancing out of happiness, hanging out with Fischl, sleeping at Fischl's house when I work late, worrying my dad. Why did everything have to go wrong?

I start eavesdropping on Fischl's conversation with Oz, since I was the only one that knew she brought Oz to the office, well, I think.

"Mein Frualine.."

"Oz, how many years was it since the incident? Eh, whatever, I'm just glad we hired that guy to run him over, or else I wouldn't be talking to Bennett at lunch!"

"Me too mein frualine, now you can spend time with your friend."

My eyes grew wide and I covered my mouth since I could hear my own breath.

I walk out the office and try to collect my thoughts. Tears started to form in my eyes as I slowly wander on the sidewalk, as I see the same place where the incident happened. The memories flashing back into my eyes. I run home crying.

When I was home I wanted to forget what I just heard from Fischl but it was stuck in my head, until I get a notification from the hospital Razor was in.

Bennett: Hello, is everything doing fine?

Doctor: Yes, good news, Razor has woken up.

Bennett: Really doc?! I'll head there as soon as possible!

I ran to the hospital with tears falling from my eyes.

It has been so long, it felt like more than ten years. My vision gets more blurry the more I cry, I find a doctor as they lead me to Razor's room.

I go almost immidiately, as I see a doctor telling Razor what had happened.

"Razor?.."

"..B-Bennett?.."

I drop my bag and hug Razor so tight I could hear our heartbeats.

"I-- I'm so sorry... I'm so so sorry..."

"Bennett...no..it's ok..."

I cry the whole time while Razor was stroking my hair to calm me down.

After I settled down, I told him what happened over the years, and that I haven't been doing my normal routine.

"Bennett, I never knew that I had a big impact in your life.."

"Of course you're a big impact! You were the one who kept me company in hard times, and treated me well too! How can I not worry about you all the time?!"

Tears started to form again as Razor rubbed his thumb against my eye.

"Don't cry Bennett, I'm awake now"

I show a smile and hug him again, but more calmer this time.

I told him everything that I heard from Fischl, I could feel the room getting more tense.

"So it was Fischl huh?" Razor said looking down at the sheets of the hospital bed. I could see the hatred in his eyes, burning.

I asked the doctor if we can go home, and she said yes.

I was happy that I was with him again, I could feel my heart blooming once again, finally stopped worrying and hiding behind the wall that was keeping all my feelings locked up inside me.

As we got home I could see my dad running towards us, welcoming us with a warm hug.

"Razor! You're okay!" My dad yelled in relief.

Razor got shocked by the action of my father, he never thought that he would make my dad worry about him too.

We ate at the dinner table, it was more quiet than usual. The soup was hot, the air was cold, I didn't know what to do after dinner so I just bring Razor to my room.

The room changed a lot, the bed was smaller, and there was more space than usual.

"Your room changed a lot.." Razor said.

"Yeah..can we-- talk for a bit?"

"Sure"

We had a fun, long conversation, it was getting late and i could see Razor being half awake and half asleep.

We go to bed, cuddling once again, though, I had bad dreams, scary dreams.

I was sleeping with tears falling down my face.
