Cassia did not imagine that her summer would be spent flying over the grand canyon, aka a glorified hole in the ground. Sure, it was a million layers of geological history, but it wasn't first on her list of glorified holes to visit. To be fair, she also didn't anticipate one of her best friends to disappear into thin air. Percy Jackson had disappeared exactly three days ago, with a set of riddles following the disappearance from her royal stick-up-the-ass. But what did she expect, really? A tiny part of her wondered if it was her doing. She absently brushed the scars that engulfed both arms. She was like a black cat that had wandered underneath a latter one too many times. It was selfish of her to ever make friends in the first place or even attempt to live with family. She cleared her throat, trying to rid of pesky thoughts, and instead decided to focus her attention on the quickly widening expanse of the grand canyon.

Before Butch could even land the chariot, Annabeth leaped out and unsheathed her dagger, pointing it to a group of teens standing on the other end of the skywalk. Cassia attempted to follow shortly after but tripped as the chariot rocked in mid-air. She fell face-first in what she hoped looked like a planned landing. Probably not. Her hands had landed at awkward angles, and she was basically kissing the floor. She could almost feel Butch's smirk from the chariot. A blush crept up her throat as she huffed at her sheer lack of balance, and got up quickly to join Annabeth's side. As they made their way, Cassia unsheathed her favorite throwing knife from a holster on her thigh and began to twirl it between her fingers, prepared to lodge it in someone's throat. When they arrived in front of the trio Annabeth pointed a dagger at the blonde standing in the middle, while Cassia aimed a knife.

"Woah, lady!" A boy said, his eyes trained on Cassia's knife.

"Could you aim that somewhere else? Preferably not in this area." He said and motioned to his body, giving the girl a small wink. Cassia scoffed in shock at the gesture and sent him a disapproving look,

"Careful, it might just slip." She threatened lightly. Annabeth ignored them both and shoved her dagger closer to the other boy's face.

"Where is he?" She demanded fiercely. The boy looked genuinely taken aback,

"Where's who?" Cassia slowly lowered the knife, and carefully slid it back, satisfied with the familiar weight it carried against her leg. This guy definitely had no idea what they were talking about. But Annabeth still offered a scathing glare in his direction, before turning to the other two. Besides the blonde, there was the indecent boy and a girl. The girl had choppy dark hair, with eyes that seemed to shift color. While the boy had deep brown curls and a golden-brown complexion.

"What about Gleeson? Where is your protector, Gleeson Hedge?" Annabeth inquired. The curly-headed boy cleared his throat,

"He got taken by some...tornado things."

"That's a first," Cassia muttered under her breath, the lack of unknown agitated her. Where was Percy? Hadn't Hera made the clear distinction he would be here? She exchanged a look with Annabeth before the blonde boy spoke again,

"Venti, storm spirits." Cassia arched an eyebrow. That certainly was not the Greek term.

"You mean anemoi thuellai ?" Annabeth questioned. The three just exchanged confused expressions,

"That's the Greek term," Cassia said carefully, casting a suspicious glare at the blonde. Annabeth shook her head as if this was a useless conversation,
