 ~Anaya POV~

“Run! Please do as I say! If you don’t run we’ll both die and one of us must live. They’re coming back run! Run!” He pushed me and my legs started running. My heart wanted to stay with the first person I have ever loved.

“There she is! Get her you dumbass and don’t let her get away or it’ll be your ass!” Someone shouted and I ran faster than I was running with warm tears streaming down my face. I was out of breath when I reached a house. I began to knocking vigorously until an old couple opened the door.

“Help me please! Allow me in people are chasing me and I don’t have it in me to run anymore.” I pleaded and they allowed me inside. My right hand was broken, my head was bleeding, my clothes were torn, cuts and bruises everywhere and my hijab was everywhere.

“Stay awake sweetie!” The old woman said and that was the last thing I heard before I lost consciousness.

I woke up drenchedin sweat when I realized I was dreaming about the past. I went to go get a drink of water as I was thirsty. I’ve had these dreams from the past for 2 years now since the three weeks I was kidnapped. I started crying thinking about what happened during that time and how I was the only one to survive.

“Are you okay?” Mrs. Zainab asked me bending down. I couldn’t answer due to the fact that I’m crying so hard that when I open my mouth the words refuse to come out.

“Whatever it is you’ll be alright my darling. Allah would not give a soul more than it can bear.” She said embracing me. It was something I had never felt before but only imagined. There was so much love and warmth. It was everything I ever wanted to feel. I always wanted my mother to comfort me but it never happened until now.

“Thank you ammi that’s what I really needed.” I said looking at her. A smile spread across her face as soon as she heard me call her ammi.

“I’ll be here whenever you want a hug my child” She said with tears of joy in her eyes. We embraced once more before we went to pray Tahjud. After Tahjud, it was time for Fajr so we had to wake everyone up.  The men all left for the Mosque whereas we prayed at home as usual. When the men returned, Abbi, Ammi, Walid, Khalid, Noor, Zaman, Zubair, and Zameera all went to go get a change of clothes. After showering and changing, we got hungry. Aryaan wanted chocolate chip pancakes and Ayaan wanted plain buttermilk pancakes so we decided to make both. I made both pancakes while Ari made fresh squeezed orange juice and Yani cut up fruits. Both of them set the table and put everything on there as I finished up the last few pancakes. Just as I put the pancakes on the table everyone walked in and grabbed their seats.

“I’ll be back I forgot the milk.” I said getting up from my seat walking to the kitchen. I got the milk and made my way back to the table. As I neared the table the doorbell rung and I went to answer it.

“Assalamu Alaikum Niya” The person said and as they spoke I dropped the milk. I couldn’t believe my eyes. This is all happening because I’m married and I’m hallucinating.

“Niya please say something. This is not how I imagined our reunion” He said with a weak smile. I poke him to see if he was real then I pinched myself to see if I was awake.

“Hudaifah?  Is it really you?” I asked and he nodded. I hugged him tightly as tears ran across my face. I kept repeating Alhamdulilah. “Come in Hudaifah we were just eating breakfast” I said still in disbelief. We walked in the kitchen and heard a few gasps coming from Haadi, Yani, and Ari. They all looked at him in complete and utter shock.

“I’m going to run to the store” I said completely out of the blue causing everyone to look at me.

“Anaya are you okay?” Ari asked with a concerned look.

“I’m fine brother. Can I borrow your car?” I asked in a monotone voice.

“Let’s eat and talk then you can go to the store.” Ayaan said

“Okay let’s do that” I said sitting down.

“Can we go for a walk after breakfast?” Hudaifah asked

“In Sha Allah.” I said focusing on my food. After breakfast we went out for a walk to the park.

“How have you been?” Hudaifah asked trying to lighten the mood.

“Not well. I have the terrible nightmares thinking you were dead and that I left you behind so that you could basically sacrifice yourself for me. I don’t think you’ve realized the immense guilt I have felt for the last two years. I have been so angry at myself for allowing the one I first loved to give up his life for me.” I said with my voice cracking.

“I am so sorry Niya I really am.” Hudaifah said.

“Sorry won’t give me back the endless nights I woke up screaming and having to have had to cry myself back to sleep.” I practically yelled.

“Anaya I had amnesia! Okay?! Never in a thousand years would I not come back to you. After you ran they left me with one guard and I decided to escape so I took him on. I ran as fast and hard as I could but I only got so far before I lost consciousness. Some people found me and took me to the hospital. I was roughly beaten up, cuts and bruises everywhere. They marked me down as a John Doe. The police ran my prints and found a missing peoples report. I’ve been missing for 13 years and my supposed parents kidnapped me from home. I only got my memories one month ago.” Hudaifah explained.

“Forgive me Hudi I never knew you went through all that.” I uttered.

“I forgive you no doubt but let’s change the subject. What’s new with you?” Hudi asked.

“I’m married now and I’m leaving today. I also found out my parents aren’t my parents and that my biological parents have two sets of twins. Crazy huh?” I said.

“Wait you’re married?” He asked with his jaw dropped.

“Yeah it all happened last night.” I told him.

“I always thought we’d marry after we finished school.” He said somewhat in shock and very hurt.

“It wasn’t my choice. My fake parents blackmailed me into it.” I said honestly.

“We should head back. I need to tell you all something.” Hudi said with that we walked back in complete silence stopping by the store for milk along the way.

“Hudaifah over here was to tell us something” I said pouring myself a glass of milk.

“My parents, the ones you guys have known, had taken me 13 years ago. They ended up to be my aunt and uncle. My father’s sister took me so that both my parents and I could suffer. My aunt and uncle along with your parents planned the whole abduction only thing was that all four of us were supposed to get abducted. They planned everything except Aryaan had gotten in trouble and had detention.” Hudi told us.

“How do you know all of this?” I asked him.

“Because I remembered Ali mentions how our “parents” were the masterminds and that they’d get a lot of money. He also went off on the other guys for screwing up for forgetting the other two remember?” He asked and I nodded.

“So what now? I mean how do we know that it’s all over and behind us?” Ari asked. As Hudi was about to answer the doorbell rang. I hate this doorbell.

“Go ahead and talk I’ll open it.” I said getting up to get the door.

SCREAM. THUD.
