‘I am sorry, I can’t reciprocate your feelings. You’re going to have to let me go. Don’t make it worse for yourself.’ A voice resonated into a half-conscious Ashton. His eyes snapped open. He wanted to sit immediately but he couldn’t summon energy to. He looked around to try to figure out where he was and how it got there.

Then, like an ‘on’ switch, the memories flooded into him. He came to bother Debby for a little bit. Then he made Debby take him along to Arthis, resting at her office which he couldn’t do and him falling asleep while waiting for her to come.

He also remembered their journey to her room and talking to her before he finally passed out.

“Ugh.” He groaned; his head was pounding. Everywhere was a bit fuzzy, he was beginning to see things in two. He was definitely dizzy.

Debby turned to check up on him for the nth time and then noticed his eyes were open and he was clutching his head.

“You’re awake.” She smiled. She checked her watch and noticed that it was exactly three hours after he had passed out. She then frowned. Even in sickness, he still slept for three hours, after he’s better. She’s so going to take him to the hospital. Something’s wrong.

“Let’s get you something to eat.” Debby walked into the fridge to see if she could pick something. There was nothing except from the salad Genevieve made earlier. Their fridge was completely empty. Debby came out huffing and glared at Brianna.

“You haven’t gone grocery shopping? You are supposed to go.” Debby yelled causing Brianna to flinch back.

“Yes I haven’t. But then I got busy.” Brianna blushed; Debby knew what she was talking about instantly.

“What am I supposed to feed him? There’s nothing in the damned fridge.”
“Nothing at all?” Brianna squeaked. She should have just done it earlier.

“Nothing!” She yelled.

“Okay calm down.” Genevieve said coming in between them, she has always been the mature one that stops Debby and Cathy from killing whoever doesn’t go grocery shopping on time. Cathy snickered.

“Brianna, people live here, and we need food. It will do us good if you prioritize our lives than your relationship.” Genevieve then turned to Debby.

“I made excess salad; you can give him some.”

“If that can be called food.” Debby muttered loud enough for Genevieve to hear.

“I heard that!”

“Good. You were supposed to.” She stomped over to the fridge, grabbed the salad, and headed over to Ashton who was struggling to sit up.

“Never thought I would see the day you can’t sit up.” Debby chuckled and helped him sit and rested his back against the wall. She handed him the plate.

“Me too.” He looked at the food in it. There was no way he could feed himself; everything was still in double. If he tried eating, he will spill it and he didn’t want to bother Debby about it. She had already done so much.

Debby seeing him not eating grabbed the food and started feeding him.
“Is there anything wrong with your eyes?” Since she woke him up in the car, his eyes haven’t been focusing.

“Nope. It’s normal when I’m sick.” He opened his mouth and accepted a spoon of the salad.

“Your damn secretary called while you were out. When you weren’t picking, he then proceeded to bother and disturb me. I kinda spoke some words I wasn’t supposed to because I was frustrated.” Ashton laughed. That caused his headache to temporarily get worse and he winced a bit trying to hide it.
