Chapter 4

I was going about to die and I squeezed my eyes shut as Kyle screamed my name. I held onto my breath but then, I heard a loud, authoritative growl coming from behind us all and opened my eyes to see my dad, with his arms around me protectively, Alpha Jake Hunter-the North-Lunar Pack's Alpha, knocking down Avery and King William Carter, Logan's father and king of vampires, knocking down Logan.

Kyle ran towards me and my dad, searched for any possible injuries on me. "Kylie, are you alright? Did you get hurt?" my dad asked, worriedly. I shook my head and let my dad hug me and Kyle too.

"Are you stupid, Kylie?! You would've gotten killed! What were you thinking???" Kyle asked me angry yet worried at the same time.

"Kyle! I'm fine. Can we go please?" I asked them both. My dad nodded and I saw Blaine and Amy walking my way and I ran towards them. Avery's friends headed to Avery to help him up. Alpha Jake stared at me and I looked away.

Amy looked at me full of concern. "Kylie, what happened? Is that Logan? Why are Avery and Logan both bloodied?" she asked me.   "ARE YOU OKAY?!"

I giggled. "My hearing is probably not, Ames." Amy rolled her eyes and took me away with Kyle but Blaine stayed back. I glanced at Avery from behind my back and he was staring at me with hurt filled in his eyes and he turned back to his friends.

Is he okay? I asked my wolf. She whimpered at the thought of him hurt and the both she and me quickly regained out anger. Why would we bother with him? Who cares if he's hurt or not? That guy is no mate of mine.

Blaine's POV

As Kyle and Amy took Kylie away from them, my father and I approached the two guys who were fighting, Avery Hunter, Beta to the North-Lunar Pack, and Logan Carter, prince of the east vampire kingdom. I went to my dad first though and asked him what was going on.

He shrugged. "If I knew what happened I would tell you, but I don't know why these boys are fighting or why Kylie was about to get killed by them." he said, sighing.  "All I know was that we were passing this side of the forest and saw the whole thing. Blaine, could you handle this whole issue? I have to take care of something else with Alpha Jake and King William."

I nodded. "Yeah, go ahead." I told him. Alpha Jake and King William followed my dad into the forest and I turned to the two who were glaring at each other. They were going to fight again if I hadn't stepped between the two of them. I glared at the both of them. "Stop fighting! You're all on my land so both of you better tell why the hell were you two attacking each other!" I said to them.

Avery glared at Logan. "HE STARTED IT!! HE LAYED HIS FILTHY HANDS ON MY MATE!!" he growled.

Logan's eyes turned bloody red again and Avery started shaking, trying to control his wolf, probably. "YOUR MATE?! DON'T YOU DARE CALL HER 'YOUR MATE'! SHE'S MINE!! YOU DON'T DESERVE HER AFTER WHAT YOU DID!!" Logan retorted.

I held Logan back while Avery's second, Shane, tried to hold Avery down. "WHAT ARE YOU FUCKIN' TALKING ABOUT? I NEVER HURT HER!!" Avery yelled again.

My patience was wearing thin and I hit both Avery and Logan and they fell onto the ground. "NOW, would you both stop yelling and tell me who the hell are you both talking about?" I asked them.

Logan and Avery glanced at each other with full on hatred and said, "Kylie."

I stared at Avery with wide eyes. He was Kylie's mate. "Y-You're Kylie's mate?" I asked Avery.

He nodded. "Yeah,"-Avery got up and sighed-"I don't understand why everyone keeps saying I did something to Kylie? I just met her." he said to me. I knew Kyle and Logan were being unfair and blamed it all on Avery but they were just protective of Kylie. She hasn't been herself ever since se shifted.
