Mikey's POV
I dropped the shovel next to the recently filled in grave and stared at it.
I can't believe she was gone so soon. First Leo was hurt and Splinter was killed. Then Moon was probably killed too. But today, even though I almost died, everything was starting to look up.
Leo woke up. Moon came back. Sure she was kind of evil at first, but she's good again now. I thought maybe even Splinter might show up, or Leatherhead and Karai.
But then Ice Cream Kitty died.
She probably spoiled, because ice cream has an expiration date, but I thought that the mutagen would have taken care of that problem.
I was wrong.
I felt a soft hand touch my shoulder and I twisted around, seeing Moon looking up at me with a sad smile. I tried to smile, knowing that I needed to stay happy for my family.
But Moon just shook her head and gave me a hug. I wrapped my arms around her and sniffled a little.
Everything was so hard. Why did everything have to be so hard?
Why couldn't everyone be happy staying in their houses or sewers, eating pizza, licking their cats, watching T.V., and laughing at Raph missing the punching bag or Donnie blowing himself up?
Training with Splinter and aggravating Leo because he couldn't predict my mad skillz.
Watching Casey and Donnie trying to impress April and her ignoring the both of them. Or Leo and Moon chasing each other around the sewer.
Moon let go of me and I smiled, this one for real.
"I'm sorry about Ice Cream Kitty. I don't know what happened, but I do know that she wouldn't have died if I hadn't come here." Moon apologized, looking guilty.
"Aw, it's okay. She probably just expired." I said.
She shook her head.
"I have to leave now, but I'll be back. Tell the others I said goodbye would you?"
I made a double take, "Why do you have to go?"
"Leo decided suddenly that everything in the fridge went bad. He claimed that there was a mouse in it. Everyone is inside throwing everything away, so I was going to run to the store and get stuff to surprise them." She explained.
"Oh ok." I answered, "You made it sound like you were leaving for a long time!"
"Of course not." She laughed, but it sounded fake.
Then she gave me another hug and started to walk away towards the woods.
"It's just the store!" I called after her.
She didn't respond.
I shrugged and walked inside, seeing that everyone really was throwing everything away.
"You guys know that there were probably tons of mice in our fridge in the sewer right? Including Splinter." I asked.
"Mice?" April asked.
"Yeah, isn't that why you guys are throwing everything away?" I asked.
"Uh no. I said to throw it away because..." Leo paused.
"Yeah, you never did give us a reason." Casey said, looking at Leo suspiciously.
Leo, Raph, and Donnie all shared a look before glancing at me.
"Because there was mold! In the... humidifier! It probably inflected everything. But don't worry, I cleaned it out." Donnie suddenly answered.
"How did Leo know?" April asked.
