3rd Person P.O.V.
Diana wasn't going to admit it to anyone, buts he had kind of been hoping that Reyna had left the Principia, given her more time to break the news that a secret government agency was coming to destroy them. But, she was sitting in her praetor's chair and deep in thought, her hand sitting on top of Aurum's head and her fingers tapping against the cool metal in a constant rhythm.
She looked up as soon as he neared the top of the stairs, and Diana bit her tongue to restrain the curses that came to mind.
Gods, what was with it with demigod luck?
"Hey Reyna." she greeted, brushing a hand through her hair again and giving her a little smile.
Reyna nodded to him and returned her gaze to Aurum. Argentum butted his head against his leg, giving her the puppy dog eyes, though Diana was still confused how that worked, since the dog was a metal automaton.
"What have you discovered from the Avengers?" she asked in a cool voice, and Diana could almost see the awkwardness that hung in the air between them. They were two very powerful and strong women, however what made their relationship awkward was Hylla being Queen of the Amazons when in actually Diana's mother Hippolyta was, however many years ago a group of Amazons abandoned Paradise Island to go to Man's World.
She also hated having to tell Reyna the news, after she had worked so hard to save the camp this two summers ago, but it was better to be prepared than not.
"I spoke with the Avengers and they see their chances of escape and making it out of camp as slim. So, it appeared Stark had taken a piece of his technology and hidden it on his person somewhere. Then it made it into a...homing beacon."
The Amazon swallowed and let Reyna absorb the news. She was smart, unlike a few Ares/Mars kids she knew (an Ares himself), and it didn't take her long to connect the dots.
"You mean, they sent out a signal for their mortal friends to find them." Reyna said slowly, as if the words were acid on her tongue. Diana hated it, but he nodded.
Reyna sat up straighter and her knuckles turned white as she gripped Aurum's head tightly.
"How long until they arrive?" Reyna asked in a deceptively calm voice, letting none of her emotions slip through any cracks in her appearance. When Diana visited she was no longer an equal among the demigods (being stronger, older, and mature), she was a camper like everyone else. Even if she knew she knew how angry and nervous she was, she would keep it all under wraps just for appearances sake.
"About three to four hours at this point." she sighed and started "Reyna-"
"Bring Praetor Zhang here once you leave." Reyna interrupted, leaving her no time to apologize for how things turned out, even unintentionally. "I will contact the Hunters of Dianna, and see if they are close enough to take the journey."
"I have already spoken to my sister. She will be here within the hour." He reported, feeling oddly nervous under Reyna's intense obsidian gaze. She nodded, and turned to face him for the first time.
"Diana, this is no fault of yours. If the Fates decree that we shall meet mortals on the battlefield, there is little we can do to stop it. Now, I must protect my city and get my campers prepared for war. Diana." She nodded in dismissal and stood, leaving the room with Silver and Gold flanking her on either side.
Diana sighed, his shoulders slumping slightly.
That didn't go any better than expected.
She heard the sound of weapons being drawn and a wolf howling. Diana stormed from the principia to find the Hunters standing in the road, silver arrows drawn and some Romans holding their swords up as if to attack. After seeing the Hunters fighting, she knew that was a bad idea.
