After Carson took me inside the building, I was immediately engulfed in a hug from Lillian, Carson's daughter. She's stunning... She's got the body of a walking figure model from a magazine. Her hair is jet black, long and curly. Her eyes are a deep brown. She's got a fun energy surrounding her. I could tell we were going to get along.
"I can't wait to be able to do placement training," Lillian burst as we sat in one of the rooms.
We've been sat for the last an hour and a half, listening to a woman talk about the basics of being a midwife. It was intriguing. I wish I had brought a notepad and pen with me. I wanted to remember all of this. She gave us a little quiz to fill in, most of the stuff I knew because of my mom.
"I have a long way to go before I can do that," I chuckled.
"You can shadow a midwife if the she-wolf allows it. You can watch, gain knowledge and experience first hand while still training." She mentioned, "That's what I'm going to do," She replied.
"My mom is a midwife, so I think I'd be able to do that once I go home." I nodded.
I'm excited to experience everything being a midwife entails. I can stay here, get as much training as I can before my thirteen weeks is up. Then go back home and finish it. I will finally be able to fulfil my life's dream.
"For those new students who have joined us, we will be having our placement training in three weeks." The woman mentioned, "you will be paired up for assignments for this week, so I can see where you are all at." She added.
"Work with me?" Lillian grinned. I nodded and grinned at her. "Perfect, we're going to ace this," She gushed. I chuckled and nodded.
"Ayla, is it?" The woman asked, looking at me.
"Yes," I replied. She came over to me and smiled. "Your quiz answers were incredible." She complimented.
I beamed at her. "Thank you. My mom is a midwife, so I have grown up learning what I can from her." I explained.
She nodded, "you're going to go far in this line of work," She commented. I smiled at her and felt proud of myself.
"Ok. There's a book at the front here for each of you. Take one on your way out and study it. You may leave for today," She smiled as she walked back to the front of the room.
I stood up and pushed my chair back under the table. I walked to the front of the room with Lillian and picked two books up. I handed one to her, she grabbed the book, "thanks," she grinned at me.
"Are you coming to the barbeque?" She raised her brow at me.
"I am. My friend will be coming too and possibly her mate... Where there is food, he's not far behind." I cackled.
She threw her head back, laughing and nodded. "Because food is life," She winked. "I'm meeting my mate there, so I'll introduce you to our friend group." She added.
She was so friendly and welcoming. I could feel myself slowly finding myself being happy, no more hurt or dark thoughts. It was like a weight had been lifted. I was being left alone, and I was slowly healing.
"Thank you," I smiled. She nodded as we made our way back to the spot I was meeting Mila.
"So, I heard you took a bit of a tumble when you got here." She chuckled, smirking at me.
"Aw, don't. It was really embarrassing." I groaned, "and cold... That lake was freezing," I shuddered.
She started laughing and shaking her head, "I'm sorry... I wish I would have been there, though." She cackled.
