I can't sit still. I can feel Leon's emotions going haywire. One second, he's sad, he's angry... Now he's worried. My eyes are constantly fixated on the door waiting for him to walk through.
"Leon will be fine," Ruby, his mom, reassured me from across from the kitchen table. It was nice of her, but it didn't work.
I sighed and nodded. "Caleb wouldn't be happy we haven't given you a proper welcoming," she tittered.
I shook my head. "Nonsense." I swished my hand through the air. "The pack need to grieve." I comforted.
She smiled and touched my hand on the table. "I'm so glad he has you." She commented.
"I'm lucky to have him," I returned, squeezing her hand.
"Where's Lila?" Leon questioned through the link causing me to jump. It's been so long since I've had voices randomly popping up in my mind. His voice was cold and distant, and I shivered.
"She's asleep upstairs," I replied in a whisper. He was making me nervous.
The door in the kitchen opened. I felt a smile creeping onto my face as I felt him. The smell of blood hit me almost instantly.
I spun around. My eyes went wide, and my breath seized in my throat. Leon stood in the doorway covered in blood, wearing just shorts. I didn't know if the blood was his or not; there was too much of it covering him.
"I shifted." He grumbled. I heard his mom gasp.
That must have been painful, the first shift after not shifting for three years. I sprang up and ran to him. "Ayla, I'm covered in blood." He blurted before I bound my arms around him.
"I don't care," I uttered. I just wanted to feel him against me. I wanted to calm myself and my wolf. Seeing all the blood and feeling his emotions were too much.
He enveloped his arms around my waist as he rested his head on my shoulder. I heard him take a deep breath... He was calming himself down, and I loved that I could do that for him.
"Ayla... we need to talk," he whispered.
I held my breath and pulled away. He looked uneasy and apprehensive. It wasn't an expression I was used to seeing on his face. I nodded, puffing my breath out.
"Mum, we're going to go up to my old room. Will you listen for Lila?" He asked, looking over my shoulder.
"Sure, son." She replied.
He took my hand and led me out of the kitchen. He was tense; whatever he wanted to talk about was serious. I was worried and nervous.
After we went up the stairs, he stopped outside of a door. He glanced at me and took a deep breath. His eyes were flickering between brown and black. His wolf wanted to come out. Whatever made him shift was still eating away at his wolf.
He shoved open the door. As soon as I was inside and the door was closed, he was on me. His hands roaming everywhere. "Fuck... I didn't want... not like this... not again." He groaned.
I moaned and gripped his shoulders as he peppered little kisses along my neck. "What?" I asked. He was confusing me. He didn't want to do what?
"I was too rough on the plane... I can't hold him back." He grunted. "But... I need you," he moaned.
"Leon," I moaned as he thrust his hips into me. "I'm not made of glass; you won't break me." I moaned, tugging on his hair.
He let out a rasping growl as he pulled me towards the bathroom.
"Ayla..." he whimpered my name, and my heart dropped at the sound. "My wolf is close to the edge... I don't want to hurt you or scare you." He whined.
