——POV DENKI——

The sun was slowly rising and the sky was glowing red. The cold morning breeze hit my face, but the only thing I could focus on was the stinging in my wrists.

You deserved it.

I know...

I slowly opened the bagged sweet mango bread and started eating. The pain in my stomach was long gone but I knew that I would die if I didn't feed myself at least once a week. Not that I would care if I died... not that anyone would care... But I can't leave them alone. Not with dad. He's sad and confused. It's because mom is gone that he's like this. I'm already bothering him enough as it is. I don't want to make him feel even more pain by disappearing and leaving them behind.

My hand grabbed my wrists. Slightly squeezing the bandaged arm. I hissed in pain. But at the same time a satisfying feeling over flooded me. I set my eyes on the dimly lit road again. The stores were closed and the lights of the houses were turned off. Except for the few streetlights, the only thing left was complete darkness.

But I couldn't enjoy the few minutes of silence and peace. The only thing on my mind was how I could earn more money than I am now. My current job wasn't enough to pay the bills and feed us to. But I didn't want to do that anymore.

You coward. Are you really gonna let them suffer just because your scared.

It hurts...

And seeing your siblings die from starvation won't hurt?!

I-

Just stop talking already! You pathetic bastard. Can't even sacrifice his body to feed his kin. Tss.

"I really can't do it." I muttered.

Useless.

"I know. I'm useless."

I used to sell my body to my dads friends to earn enough money. But it took way much of a toll on me. And I couldn't go to my other jobs because of the injuries. And now that I'm in UA it's even harder. But the money... Even though dad took most of it. It brought us round. I just don't know if I can take it.

I squeezed harder until the pain faded my thoughts away. I looked up and saw that I had already reached the back of our house. I entered from the broken mirror in our kitchen. My feet landen next to the kitchen sink filled with dirty dishes and filth that had made his way trough the open window. A few dried up leaves crumbled underneath my soles. I jumped off of the counter and made my way to the stairs.

I slowly walked up the creaking stairs and walked towards the room at the end of the hallway. I gently knocked three times on the door. After a few seconds I heard a little knock back. I let out a relieved sight and knocked once again. After some tumbling the door finally opened and a little boy around 4 years old stood in the opening. His dark blue hair was wearily sitting on his head. He looked up with a pare of beautiful red eyes.

"D-Denki." He said with a hoarse voice. I looked at my brother as he jumped in my arms. I hugged him tightly.

"Don't talk Eli. You will damage your vocal cords even more so." I said. He nodded his head. I looked around his little room. A few chairs and a nightstand that were locking the door before I came was scattered around the room. I looked but couldn't see him. My heart almost dropped. I instantly thought of the worst. I gently gripped Eli by his shoulders and looked him in the eyes.

"W-where is your brother?" I asked. Trying to sound as calm as possible. I didn't want to scare him.

A little smile appeared on his lips. And I could feel myself breath again. Nothing happened. Good. He pulled me inside his room and brought me to his 'bed'. It was just and old matras I had surprisingly found in a thrift shop. Dad had already sold most of our things. 'We needed the money' he said. Although I never saw a cent of it.

Eli walked to the matras and opened the zipper. The inside was holed out. There was enough place for two little body's to hide. The tiny head of a 3 year old peeked out from within the matras.

"Hehe." He was grinning from ear to ear.

"What are you doing in here." I said smiling.

"Hiding place!" He giggles.

I turn to Eli and see him sign to me.

[we thought you were dad.]

"I see." I replied. "You did good to hide." I stroke his head and pulled our little brother out of the matras. Dad was still sleeping so I took the chance to give the two a shower and change their clothes. I fed them the two left over mango breads and brought them back to their rooms.

"Don't leave until I come back. Understood."

They nodded their heads.

"Don't open the door for dad. Keep it locked. And hide when you hear him knock or scream okay?"

"Okay."
