~Dream~
"Mommy?" I called. The room was dark. I was probably around two or three. This is my earliest memory. The room was cold, damp, unused. My mother would come in here to be alone. To sit in solitary. The room smelled of death and decay.
I walked into the room. I had had a nightmare. I wanted my mother but, she was gone. Her eyes were glass. Her body unmoving. Her hands bloody and bruised. I crawled onto her lap.
Her hair was matted in blood. Pieces of her scalp hung from her head like Christmas decorations. Clumps of hair fell onto her shoulders.
I called for her to wake up. I hit her and punched her. I bit her once too. She never moved. She remained in her ghost like state.
I sat on her lap for days until someone had found me. I was malnourished, dehydrated, fighting sleep. They took me in. Then they put me away. Shut me out to the world.
Then I was moved from house to house.
The world around me spun as I opened my eyes a little. The lights temporarily blinding me and forcing my eyes closed again. There was no horrible hospital smell. No beeping heart monitor.
I was alone. That much I could tell. There was no breathing other than my own. No whispers or hushed voices arguing in the corners. It was just me.
The smell was unfamiliar. A sort of save and lavender, which tickled my nose and made me want to sneeze. What ever I was lying on wasn't soft. It wasn't for comfort. It felt as if more for decoration.
I flexed my fingers and dug my nails into the stitches on the couch. I felt rough pillows and itchy blankets surrounding me. So it wasn't a couch. Maybe a bed then.
I slowly opened my eyes to get used to the light around me. It had to be at least mid day. The sun was at its peak and at its brightest. I blinkered trying to get the world into focus.
I groaned and turned my neck to the side so I wasn't facing windows anymore. A searing pain went through my shoulder and I gasped. Well I was awake now.
I looked over to it. My left shoulder was wrapped in heavy bandages. Blood seeping through only a little. Dots scattered here and there. The bandages looked aged as if they had been either on me for a while or awaiting use. I figured it must be the second option. Though I didn't know how long I had been here.
I looked around the room. The walls were painted a light burgundy color. White curtains gave the room a contrast it much needed. The bed was a dark wood with white sheets and blankets covering it. The colors made it seems as though it might have been a guest room once.
I tried to sit up groaning as I did. The room spun again. I shut my eyes tightly as I tried to refocus my vision. Lights dotted the corners of my vision. There was a metallic taste in my mouth. My throat was dry.
I raised my arms to rub my eyes and face gasping in pain I dropped my injured arm back on the bed. My right arm shot to my shoulder and put pressure on it. It was the best I could do in the circumstances.
I was breathing heavily. My shoulder still throbbing as I moved to dangle my feet off the edge of the huge king sized bed. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly as I stood.
It was like every joint in my body wanted to crack at the same time. My knees and ankles taking the win for the loudest pop. I groaned again as I felt my joints loosen. Then I heard the door handle turn.
My eyes shot to the door. Every muscle in my body going stiff. I was ready to move regardless of if my shoulder was going to let me or not. It slowly opened to reveal none other than Jim standing before me.
"You bastard!" I shot from my stance and was on him in seconds. He just laughed and grabbed my arm pinning me to the floor. I screamed in pain.
"Did you really think me that evil? I would never kill my own children." He let me go and I gasped struggling to move to the corner of the room cradling my arm.
"You're diabolical." I growled biting the inside of my cheek.
"Come!" Jim yelled. The door opened to show Julia standing before it. I gasped and held my arms open wide as she ran to me.
"Mommy!" She yelled running into my arms. I held her tightly as James walked into the room after her.
I cried openly as they hugged me tightly. I wrapped my arms around them and closed my eyes breathing them in. I missed them so much.
Jim snapped his fingers and they kids pulled themselves from me. I fought to keep them in my grasp but it was no use. They went up to Jim and stood next to him like stone.
I glared at him. Every fiber of my being over flowing with anger and rage towards the man that I once thought I loved.
A life time ago I would have sat here and told him that I adored him that I loved him above all else. Then I met Sherlock. Jim locked me away. Took my children from me.
The man standing in front of me was nothing compared to my family now. Mary and John. Mycroft and Sherlock. Mrs. Hudson and even the Holmes parents. Those were my family. I hoped that he saw that and never forgets it.
"What do you want?" I spit the words like poison in my mouth.
"I want Sherlock dead at my FEET." He screamed the last word. The children flinched. I stood like stone. Unwilling to let him know that he was getting to me.
"I want to BURN him."
