Turns out Ricky was the one who was texting her. Key word here was, because he deleted it as soon as it was sent.
What was this dude's problem?
Why was he making it harder for her to move on from him?
She blocked his number. If she was going to do this, she was going to do it the right way.

"Of course Wizards is better! That's not a thing you question!"
"I am telling you, Ramona and Beezus is better in every way! Nothing you say or do can change my mind."
"Guys, Selena is an icon. Everything she does is the best. Now can you stop bickering? My ears hurt."
"Okay fine, Gina. I am sorry for making your ears hurt with my melodic voice" Replied EJ dragging out every word.
"You are so full of yourself!"
"Yeah, Yeah"
They turned into the school parking lot. Gina had her hand on the door handle when EJ asked her if he could talk to her .
"Actually Gi? Can I talk to you for a second?"
Gi.
She was immediately taken back to the time when Ricky asked if they could partner up together, but she had ignored him. She wanted to be his partner more than anything else. She wanted nothing more in the world than wanting them to go back to normal. The flirty banters, the knowing glances, the talks. But she couldn't. Not when she wanted to get on with her life. Being with him while he talked about Nini hurt her too much. She would be happy to be friends. If it wasn't for Nini always being the subject of their conversation. She was his friend. Not someone he would dump his problems with Nini to.
Why was she always taken back to Ricky whenever EJ was the one with her?
Ashlyn gave her a knowing look and exited the jeep.
"What do you want to talk about?"
"Listen, Gi I -
Could he stop calling her that? It made it harder for her to concentrate on what he was saying.
"I had a lot of fun on our date, but I can't help feeling that we are better off being friends. I think you felt that too. If you don't then I am sorry"
"You don't have to be. All the time on the date, it felt like I was talking to my brother. No offence" She was quick to add.
"Wow. Not even a friend Gina? That hurts." Joked EJ while clutching his hand on his heart with fake sorrow.
"We are always going to be friends. Okay?"
"We are."
"Good. Now hurry up! We are going to be late!"
They both exited the car and headed inside.
Classes went by quickly. She wanted the day to go slower. She didn't want to face him . Finally the most dreaded period came. Lunch.
The theatre kids always sat together at lunch. By the time she and Ashlyn had reached the table, only 2 seats were left. One between Carlos and Red. And one beside Ricky. Before she had the time to choose, Ashlyn had already taken the seat next to her boyfriend.
I thought we were supposed to be friends.
Gina groaned. She would rather sit on the floor than next to him. But she didn't want to raise any unnecessary questions and cause unnecessary drama. Letting a loud enough sigh for Ricky to hear, she sat down beside him. Soon the group engaged into conversation. It was actually not that bad. The club was talking about the thing going on between Ms.Jenn and Mr.Mazzara when -
"Hey" whispered Ricky
She just gave him a tight lipped nod and listened to what Carlos has to say. He was the one who had all the knowledge.
"Why are you ignoring me?" Ricky tried again, wanting to start a conversation.
"Ricky? Can you just leave me at peace? I am trying to listen to something" Gina whispered back putting emphasis on "trying". If he kept doing this, she doesn't know how long it will be before she bursts
"Yeah. Sure. Got it.
But not even a few minutes later -
"Did I do something wrong?"
Gina was frustrated. She didn't want to answer him. To be fair, she didn't even know the answer. Did he actually do something wrong? Or was she blaming him just because it's easier to put the wrong on others than admit it? He knew her feelings but still he kept coming to her whenever he wanted advice on Nini like he didn't know it hurt her.
Did she not make her feelings clear that night?
Did he think she meant their friendship when she said "She wouldn't quit on them"?
Had she been sending out the wrong signals?
She hated the way this boy skated his way into her life and make her question all the things she's ever done. Gina Porter doesn't let boys like him, who can barely even do a jazz square, make her fell belittled. No. Gina Porter was an independent women who can usually made smart decisions and needed no man to make her feel valued.
"Gina? You okay? You kind zoned out there for a bit." Red's voice broke her from her thoughts.
"Yeah I am fine."
Suddenly the bell rang signaling the end of the period. Next period was drama. And it was safe to say that with the drama club, getting drama alongside it was a complimentary thing.
Sorry If that last sentence is weird!
