Chapter Two: 'Bonding Purposes'

i wrote most of this while trying to stay up late to watch an episode of aot they were gonna show on tv. i normally watch the sub, but like it was my birthday and the place i was at had adult swim on the tv and i was like eh let's try something new and watch the dub. they ended up showing the episode where niccolo and sasha meet 🧍... they deserved better...

"Wakeeeee upppppppppp!!"

Sasha's eyes snapped open. She saw the blurry outline of a small figure standing in front of her with their arms crossed. She rubbed her eyes and groaned as she slowly sat up on her bed. Sasha had stayed up until almost four in the morning. She didn't even realize she fell asleep.

"Do you know what time it is?" the girl asked. Sasha looked at her sister, Kaya, who was standing at the edge of her bed, a stern look on her face. Her sister was already dressed, her blonde hair neatly combed. Confused, Sasha picked up her phone. Her eyes widened in horror when she saw the time.

"FUCK, I'M GONNA BE LATE!". She scrambled out of bed, tossing her sheets to the side and ran to the bathroom, almost knocking her sister over. Ignoring Kaya's yelling about "not swearing in this household" she quickly brushed her teeth and pulled her hair into a messy ponytail, letting a few strands of hair fall in front. She ran back to her room and hurriedly rummaged through her closet, throwing on a sweatshirt and a long skirt. She didn't care to fix any wrinkles or to dust off lint. She grabbed her backpack from her desk chair and ran to the kitchen. Her siblings were enjoying their breakfast when she skidded in, her socks almost making her slip and crash into the table. Her mother eyed her curiously as she rummaged through the cupboards and shoved a large croissant into one of her skirt's pockets.

"Honey, don't you want to eat a proper breakfast?"

"Can't, I'm running late! See ya later!" Sasha waved to her mother as she bit off a big chunk of the croissant and shoved on a pair of white tennis shoes. She grabbed her keys and sped out the door. She ran as fast as she could while continuing to chew on the croissant. She checked the time: she still had eight minutes to make it just before the start of first period. She picked up her pace and hoped that she would not have to face the wrath of Mr. Shadis. Even though it was the second week of school, he already despised her. Probably because she was constantly eating in class or joking around with Connie.

After minutes of running and dodging cars, she rounded the corner and ran through the school's gates to the language arts building, pulling the heavy doors open and running inside. The hallways were empty as the bell was about to ring. She got a dirty look from Mr. Ackerman, the school's janitor. Mr. Ackerman was the most feared staff member, arguably even scarier than Shadis. Many rumors circulated around him. Some claimed he was a gang member, others speculated how he might be in a relationship with one of the history teachers: Mr. Smith. Ymir swore she saw him and a bunch of shady looking people selling weed to some eighth graders behind the Asian supermarket on 5th street. He was also some sort of distant relative of Mikasa's.

"Tch" he scowled "I just finished cleaning the floor, stop dropping your crumbs everywhere!" Sasha ignored him, stumbling up the stairs to the second floor. " Almost there..."

Just then she slammed into another student.

" 213... 214... 215 - they just keep increasing..."

Niccolo cursed under his breath as he held the piece of paper closer to his face. Despite him getting there as early as possible, the front office took what seemed like hours to give him his schedule [supposedly the office printer wasn't working]. Now most of the students and teachers were already in their classes, leaving Niccolo to wander down the hallways without any help. He pulled out his phone. " Shit there's only a minute left." Frustrated, he turned back around, figuring that L204 was probably in the opposite direction.
