Nestled against each other under the starry sky, his hand caressing her hair, hers grabbing his shirt, the couple had secretly gathered on the roof of Kyoto Jujutsu High.

Their relationship wasn't new. Indeed, it had been going on for almost two years. The first few timid months when they didn't really know how to act with this new title gave way to years when caresses had become natural and kisses were now playful.

Y/N had never felt so much emotion for anyone; she sometimes admired him for several minutes, staring at what she considered the perfect man. Noritoshi had his flaws, of course, but it was for the details she had learned to cherish or ignore when it was necessary.

Unfortunately, certain flaws take such a place that ignoring them was almost forbidden. And for Noritoshi Kamo, this flaw was his name.

The Kamo clan, one of the three great families, was known to carry great importance in the bonds of blood. The mentality was of a traditionalist and didn't allow any error unless the latter would have as a product a potential; Noritoshi being a living example.

Born of a mistress ostracized by the clan, the blood of a bastard running through his veins was excused thanks to his legacy of the main fate of Kamo, Blood manipulation.

However, this act of kindness had the characteristic of being exceptional. A characteristic that constantly reminded Y/N of the temporary nature of her relationship with the future leader of the Kamo clan.

All his actions were examined with a fine-tooth comb, forcing him to always act as the ideal heir for the good of his mother. A perfectly upright posture that hid the fatigue of these shoulders under the pressure of always satisfying.

He simply had no right of making a mistake.

"Come closer" spoked softly Noritoshi who noticed the shaking of the girl.

The fresh air of the night seeped under her shirt and when she heard his request, Y/N obeyed immediately. She shifted slightly and felt his long arms enveloping her figure.

"Thank you" She shared her gratitude with him with a murmur, one which landed on his chest followed by a caress in the form of a brief peck that melted his heart.

Y/N had never been part of these plans. She had appeared before him as a flower which proved far more dangerous than he had first judged. Her smiles when he needed reassurance, her hugs when he needed protection, her caresses when he needed affection, her embraces when he needed love...

She had given him so much and in return, Noritoshi felt so poor. Even though she told him he was the perfect boyfriend, it didn't change the fact that he could never become the man of her life.

"Y/N..." he called her, his eyes fixed on a star that stood out from the others by its brilliance.

The young woman simply hummed and looked up to watch him mumble his next words.

"Will you ever forgive me?"

Her eyes on his trembling lips that hesitated to develop his question, to explain and add details of which she was already aware. His mouth closed for a moment before adding.

"Will you stop loving me?"

Following the rules, meeting all the criteria; Noritoshi had to be the perfect heir. And a perfect heir is accompanied by a perfect wife, or at least one sufficient to the taste of the clan.

Y/N didn't fit into the criteria. She didn't have a place at the front of the perfect picture painted by the Kamo clan. It was only a relationship for him to remember; a mistake of youth for certain.

The ear pressed against his chest, she could hear the desperate cries of his heart. Her hand released his shirt to draw small circles that followed the rhythm of her breathing.

"I-" She breathed before biting her lip.

She tried to somehow remain calm, to keep her frustration for herself and her tears for the intimacy of her room. She didn't want to hurt his feelings, but what was the point of lying?

Y/N spoke with a more assertive voice this time "Don't say those kinds of things"

Y/N pushed slightly on his waist to get up and exchange the starry sky for his eyes whose black pupil was shy. She stroked his cheek and smiled slightly when she noticed the slight tint on his cheeks.

"You know it's not your fault"

She ended her sentence with a tender kiss that Noritoshi deepened with a pressing hand against the back of her neck. Their need for air had been forgotten to make this little dream last as long as possible and even when one would detach themself to take an inspiration, the other hasten to steal it by claiming their lips.

"Y/N..." panted Noritoshi when the couple decided to wake up. He contemplated her beauty for a long time before finally breaking their dream "what about the other question?"

Their faces were so close that Noritoshi noticed the tear in the corner of her eye before it even fully formed. He didn't wait for it to run down and immediately wiped it.

"Love..." the nickname hesitant to come out of his lips.

Y/N took a deep breath and let herself fall to hide in the crook of his neck. There she placed a kiss, which was more out of sympathy than real affection.

She couldn't do it. She didn't know what to say. She could only love him, hating him would be lying to herself. But yet, uttering those words had become far too scary as the couple approached what was to be their end.

"I'm sorry"

These only words as her answer, Y/N remained hidden with her tears while Noritoshi could only stare at the sky. He squeezed her even harder and ran his hands up and down along her back in the hope of calming that fragile being he would inevitably harm.

He should have never given in to his emotions. He should have protected her because, in the end, all he had experienced was because of his stubbornness in wanting to make the dream last.

Noritoshi looked for this star that shone so brightly a few minutes ago but the sky seemed now much more obscure, or perhaps it was his vision that became blurry under his tears. In any case, one thing was clear.

Their relationship had been nothing but disillusionment.
