Lost in Space -Klance AU-

This story begins with two snappy teenagers who can't go one minute without arguing.

About an hour team Voltron arrives on the planet of Volterra.

To say the least, the planet is gorgeous. At least, Keith thinks so. He knows he's not alone when they finally land and he hears the other paladins 'ooing' and 'ahhing'.

They've all landed their lions on a platform that the Volterran's have provided for them. Almost as soon as all of the paladins have stepped off of the platform, the water that had been surrounding it sweeps up in a huge wave and covers the lions.

Within a few seconds of the paladins panicking and shouting, the platform has disappeared under the crystal clear water. Lance peeks his head to look into the water with a confused look.

All Keith can think is that this was probably a trap set up and now all of their lions have been taken. 

The Castle of Lions shows up moments later, landing next to where the platform had been.

Shiro walks out of the castle soon after it lands, looking around. 

"Shiiiiiirrrroooooo! They took our liooooonnnnnssss!" Lance whines, to which Shiro shakes his head.

"No, they didn't. The Volterran's have been kind enough to stash the lions away so they're safe." Shiro says simply.

"Oh..." Lance stops short, taken off guard.

A couple of hours later, after the team had settled in and met with the King and Queen of Volterra, they set off in search of the rebel base.

As planned, Keith and Lance team up, and Allura, Pidge, and Hunk go to search for any victims.

Shiro stays true to his word and stays behind in the castle, guiding both Keith and Lance as they get closer to the underground base.

"From what Pidge and Coran have gathered, the base has been built in the old sewer lines underground." Shiro tells the boys through their helmets.

"Smart if you want to stay hidden. Gotta be a pain to remember, though." Keith says to himself. 

"Yeah, maybe we should start living underneath the ground in a sewer." Lance makes a face. "Oh wait, I forgot. It stinks like death down here!"

Keith rolls his eyes, but doesn't say anything.

"Keep focused, guys. You can't infiltrate their base if the Galran's hear you coming from a mile away." Shiro clears his throat.

"Yeah yeah, don't worry about it team cap. We got it." Lance says annoyingly pridefully.

"Well, I got it." Keith mutters as he takes the lead through the tunnel.

"You're coming right up on a large metal door. The base is right behind it. Don't do anything stupid." Shiro warns. 

"And how do you suppose we get it open?" Lance knocks on the metal just like he did when the paladins found Blue for the first time.

"Pidge has already figured that part out. She hacked the main system and added your genetics into the system as two new recruits. Obviously, don't tell them you're new because one: you're in paladin armor, and two: you're not even Galra anyways." Shiro starts rambling, but the boys stay quiet.

"Anyways, there's a hand scanner by the door. If you guys use it the system should recognize you guys. You can use it all throughout the base. I want you to get all the information from their database as you can. Just be careful, alright? Stay out of sight." And the line clicks, which means Shiro has probably turned off his mic.

Keith knows Shiro will be watching to make sure everything is okay, but it still gives him goosebumps to know his only backup is Lance.

Is Lance's shooting really as sharp he claims? Or does he just like calling himself 'The Sharpshooter' because it sounds nice?

So many thoughts are rushing through Keith's mind. It's hard to keep track of them all. Until Lance's voice breaks through his rushing thoughts.

"Hey, what are you waiting for? Come on! We've gotta get going before someone sees us!" Lance whisper shouts at Keith, grabbing his wrist and pulling him forward.

Lance puts his hand on the hand-scanner, and it beeps before turning green. The large metal door slides up, and Lance tugs Keith through. 

The door shuts behind them both, and Keith knows there's no going back now.
