This story starts with two teenagers. One who has been burned by The Light, and one who has not.

Lance and Keith stare at each other for a while before one of them finally speaks.

"I say right."

Lance blinks. "Why not left?"

Keith shrugs. "The right feels safer."

Lance rolls his eyes. "You're joking, right? I say left."

Lance can't see very well, but he knows Keith is scowling right about now.

"You're only saying that because I picked the right side." Keith accuses, and Lance bristles.

"Hey! That's not... exactly true! Maybe I just don't trust your judgement." Lance argues back.

Keith sighs. Lance hears Keith whisper something that he always says when he's trying to keep calm.

"Patience yields focus."

"Can you not go all jedi on me right now?" Lance snarks.

Keith doesn't reply. He's still busy trying to keep his cool. It's not working great. He can feel his blood simmering, and his hands balling into fists.

Meanwhile, Lance has crossed his arms over his chest and opted for staring at the dark outline of Keith's shape. He has a thin line painted into his lips, but it turns down into a worried frown when he notices the before-faded blue burn starting to glow more.

"Uh, hey, Keith--"

"Shut up!" He snaps back.

Lance flinches back, suddenly very aware that the atmosphere has changed.

"Hey you need to calm down, like right now-" Lance takes a step back from Keith before anybody can do anything rash that they'll regret later.

The blue glow is only getting brighter. It now illuminates Keith's angry eyes, his furrowed brows, and his working jaw.

"Keith! Stop it!" Lance barks at him.

Okay, wrong move. Very wrong move. Lance thinks to himself when the glow get's even brighter.

"You just keep telling me what to do, over and over and you know what, Lance? I'm tired of it!" Keith's voice is getting louder.

Lance shuffles back a few feet, gulping. He's never seen Keith lose it before like this. He's usually so calm. Mean- but calm.

"Look- I don't know what's happening but it has something to do with that- that thing on your face! Please, just calm down. I'm not trying to tell you what to do, but you're going to alert the rebels that we're here. Please Keith, just calm down."

Keith falters for a second. Lance can see the cogs in his brain turning. His eyes frantically look around, like Keith has only now realized he's lost it.

Lance takes a step forward, reaching his arms to show Keith he isn't a potential threat. "It's alright," He whispers. "You're alright."

The blue has begun to fade away now.

Lance lets out a breath he didn't know he had been holding. The atmosphere has calmed, but now, there's awkwardness floating around the two.

"Look, I know you probably don't want to talk about it but-"

Keith cuts Lance off. "You're right. I don't want to talk about it."

"But I think we need to." Lance ignores Keith.
